CCA Roma: Archaeological Conservation Institute, 2015 course

On May-June 2015 the Centro di Conservazione Archeologica (CCA) of Rome organized for the Randolph College, Connecticut College, Grove City College, and the Wooster College the fourth edition of the Archaeological Conservation Institute. The course, three weeks long, was held at the Convento di San Nicola in Belmonte in Sabina, Rieti and at the Cabras Archaeological Museum, Sardinia. The 2015 program included one week of theory and conservation practice in the CCA laboratory under the direction of Prof. Roberto Nardi, with Prof. Susan Stevens, Joe Alchermes and Mark Graham, and two weeks of hands-on field work for the conservation campaign of the pre-nuragic Sculptures called "Giants of Monte Prama", in Cabras.
The video has been shooted, produced and edited by the coursists as part of the program activities.

    Prof Alchermes wrote an interesting paper on the 4th century legislation in Rome to preserve monuments and to regulate the use of "spolia". Would have been interesting to see him speak... Good students with a nice opportunity to learn.
