Now, at the start of 2022, the CC121 has been removed from all catalogs, some places tell you that Steinberg has stopped it. So I’ve found a used one that I should receive very soon and I’m very excited. It will replace my Presonus Faderport I had chosen because it was less than half the price, but for the Cubase integration… Anyway, thanks for sharing all the functions, I didn’t realize it done so much!

I never think about how much I use my CC121 until I'm working somewhere without one. Probably one of my most used pieces of gear that gets very little love. It's not sexy but it's rock solid. My advice, all serious Cubase users should consider this product.

Hi Dom, thank for this great video about the CC121. I had it for a few years and I discovered so many new features on it, thanks to you...!!! Keep the amazing work around Cubase environment!!! the only thing I would change on this controller though is the way knobs are turning in regards to the value (I don't know the exact name in English). I would make it go from 0 to 127 in one single turn instead of having to do multiple turns. other than that it's a perfect controller for Cubase...

Hey Dom! Fantastic video, many thanks. I've watched this numerous times and been tempted but this time I'm going for it (order being placed this week). It's not cheap and takes some desk space but for me the decider is the AI knob with mouse hovering over cos. controlling Cubase knobs solely with the mouse can be a faff in comparison. I have the 'Editor Keys' custom keyboard which is helpful and tried using a gamer trackball mouse but had issues with that. I will continue to use my iPad with Cubase IC Pro which can do so many things including a huge number of macro buttons assigned in seconds and for Cubase Pro users who use control room with performers, even old ipad 2's work seamlesssly for performers to mix their own cue mix (up to 4 ipads).

One more trick: When you are on a track and you click both 'CHANNEL SELECT'-buttons simultaniously, you 'Show / Hide Automation" or open/close folders for the track that is selected. AND if you hold the 'ALL BYPASS'-button and click one of the 'EQ-ON'-buttons, then... (Of course I had to test it after learning your great trick!" ;)

I have had mine for many years too. There are some things I'd like to see in a hardware update: An LCD showing the channel name and the value of the AI parameter, encoders with better resolution (like my nords, where you can't feel the steps on them) and the AI knob shaped more like a jog wheel. Actually I often exchange the AI knob with the jog wheel of my Yamaha 01X and it improves a lot! Wish I could find a suitable metal jog wheel to replace the plastic knob. Cheers!

Although I truly love my CC121 I still can't get used to how the response of the EQ is. One moment it's too slow, the next too fast. I'm very happy I own one, tho! Of course the fader works brilliantly, but my most favourite part is when you're in a plugin, things like the spacebar (for play/stop) doesn't work. The CC121 does. Oh, and the Channel Select! That really helps me with recording multiple guitar parts! I would like to see an updated version of the CC121 with all it's current options, but like with some LCD screen integration like the Komplete Kontrol and maybe some assignable rotary knobs for controlling VST's (Like cutoff/resonance, etc)

TOTALLY AGREE! I use my CC-121 since 2015 blind folded if needed and ride Nuendo like a bike with it. It is so very good integrated with Steinberg products and works even with Wavelab (Transport Controls). Recently I bought the Steinberg AXR4U Audio interface and use the function buttons for my monitor control including the Volume. (I own three different speaker sets and a headphone). Works like a dream. Therefore I used a Mackie Control 8 channel but sold it and bought the CC-121. One of the best decisions ever made in my studio. Thanx for your inspirating video. Compliments

Great vid mate. I've had one of these units for about 2 years and it's handy for that hands on tactile feeling in my little home studio and as you say very easy to use. I wanted to ask if you would be interested in doing something on the custom set up up of generic midi controllers and their relationship to some of the more esoteric aspects in the midi controller setup in Cubase. Some of it is obvious but other stuff can be a bit more convoluted and tricky and it's easy to get lost. For example amongst other things I'm using a old Akai advance 61 and a Alesis keytar (I know I know but it's a lot of fun to play) and the mappings as I said can be a bit complicated and I wondered if there are easier ways to look at it in Cubase 10.5 Pro? Anyway thanks for the vid and keep em' coming cheers!

I’m sold. Haven’t been happy with my Faderport One Classic on Cubase lately.

It's such a hassle! I tried Mackie mode, i tried the faderport.dll from Presonus but i never got the whole functionality in Cubase. I don't know if the new Faderport (the black one) works better, because i don't care anymore. Just save up some money and get the real deal.

Zaskar I’m on Mac. Lately it gets removed from the list and have to add it again in Studio after I startup Cubase. I’m not even going to bother with the new Faderport.

I considered buying a Behringer X-Touch One because of the low price, but i am unsure because of my bad experience with the Faderport.

Zaskar 121 does everything I need it to do. It still works flawlessly it seems after so many years.

Re-visiting to just add: I have read people on forums say it would be nice to have the Hi/Low-Cut controls on CC121. We actually do. It is on the Quick controls under Filter Input and you can access it with CC121 with the mentioned function described by Dom at 15:10.

I’ve had one as well since it came out maybe a year after… i use it every day that I’m on Cubase.

Just pull the trigger. Hard to get here in NZ. Tried on eBay in Japan but there are guys there who take your order and money and then try to get a second hand one for you. They didn’t and it cost me $49 in dollar conversion fees. So after drooling for a while I finally got a as new from a seller in Germany sent here to New Zealand. So worth the hassle. Just do it. Get it. All your decision making using EQ, plugins, faders etc are precise, and a level above watching a cursor and numbers. You become more efficient, more aware and confident in your choices. NO ONE, especially small project studios should be without one. It makes Cubase the very best DAW on the planet by a mile.

Hello from Germany. Great video! However, some time ago you spoke about the Loupedeck Controller. Do you intend to make a video on this, and when?

I'm hoping their next controller has touch sensitive encoders. They should update this and make an 8 fader version with expanded assignable section.

Hey Dom, I am a complete fan boy of yours, even though it's not my usual habit to be a fan boy of someone. So, go on man, it's a pleasure to watch you. However, I bought a CC 121 quite a while ago, it of course has become THE center of my Cubase doings, but what really f**ks me off is, that in Cubase itself the knobs for eq band, freq band and q factor are upside down. do you have any hint on how to overcome this contra productive standard setting? Have fun. Cheers!

Hey Dom, thank you for this great video. I rechieved my CC 121 yetserday and its working perfectly fine, exept for the Value Button. Turing the Metronome on and off is no problen, but changing the loudness does not work. I didn't find any answer in the web about this problem, so i thought I just ask you. Thanks for your time! Cheers!

Hello Dom, nice video. You are really satisfied with the CC121 from Steinberg. I also saw your video on "The iCon QCon Pro X In Action". Why not recommend these when using Cubase? You can expand this too, or what is less good about it? (I am doubting between CC121 and Qcon Pro X)

Thanks for sharing. I use gaming keyboards and a Midifighter Twister for rotary knobs, but it's complicated to control the EQ channels with it. You have to set it up as a midi instrument to do and change the SEND for each channel. I'm curious why this controller can set to EQ.
