The show airing in place of Private Benjamin was almost certainly Here Comes Garfield, the first Garfield special. My best friend had it on tape and this very bumper immediately preceded the cartoon.

Yes it was! Aired after Great Pumpkin on the tape I wore out.

My guess too. As I remember, PB never was a ratings winner, but a Snoopy could better than double the ratings in the same time slot.

Im sure there was a disappointed kid who wanted to watch Private Benjamin instead of Charlie Brown.

My guess is that Charlie Brown preempted Private Benjamin.
