CBD and Epilepsy: A Promising Treatment

Ғылым және технология

Cannabidiol (CBD) and epilepsy made headlines, but what do patients and parents need to know about using CBD as a treatment option?
In this episode, Dr. Laura Lubbers discusses what CBD is, why it can work to treat certain forms of epilepsy, and what the potential benefits and risks are. In addition, Dr. Lubbers explores the clinical importance of studying CBD and other compounds derived from medical marijuana.
Dr. Laura Lubbers is the Chief Scientific Officer at CURE Epilepsy. She heads our Research Team, driving strategic initiatives and pushing science closer to a cure.

My 11-year-old daughter has had epilepsy since last year. She started taking CBD oil a month ago, and the number of her seizures is reduced from 200 per week to 100 per week. Still a lot, but her cognitive level has improved a lot better, which is a huge relief. We’ll continue with CBD oil and how it affects over time. Thank you, this video gave us hope.

Great video! Great work ladies! My cousin is almost 35 and she’s been dealing with epilepsy her whole life. She recently just got some bad news from the neurologist and we’re destroyed by the bad news as she once again sees no hope insight and it sucks that this is her reality. Meds aren’t working and to make matters worst she lives in poor Central America, El Salvador, where she might not have any chance of getting CBD plus the stigma of marijuana is awful. They truly lack awareness. I don’t know what to do to help. Any recommendations besides trying to translate this video to them ? Thank you for your work.

CB1 & CB2 receptors* are the two that THC and CBD molecules "plug into"

It's the excessive cost of medical grade CBD and the large dosage that makes it unaffordable

The first time I took CBD from a dispensary I did get high, then it eventually went away. This CBD is from the cannabis plant and has a slight trace of THC in it. It is stronger then the CBD from Hemp. I wish they would have made that clear in this video. It's very important! My other thought: When I am high from THC, it feels very similar to when I have one of by small break through seizures.

@@Klumsyy13 I'd love to help! I am still not sure of the dose. Probably about 10 mg 2x/day. I take it with the seizure med so I remember to take it, no other reason. I know that you need to have the CBD in your system, like the medicine.

@@Klumsyy13I was having breakthrough seizures for 3 years and experimented with a few things. Here’s what works for me, and I haven’t had a relapse for 26 months. I’m back driving (legally) and enjoying the feeling I take 30mg CBD and 300mg PEA (palmitoylethanolamide) TWICE a day. They both work on the endocanabinoid system, and as well as no seizures, I am as cool as a cucumber in previously stressful situations. I reckon I’m dosing for life 😅

I've had Epilepsy since I was 12yrs old & No meds have ever helped me. About 5 yrs ago I had one of the worst ones ever. I was n my kitchen getting dinner ready & turned around to talk to my husband & fell face first onto our hardwood floor & broke my jaw n 4 places. The hospital told me just a few more inches it would've killed me. I'm on 3 different meds right now & they don't help, but when I smoke weed a few times a day it helps a lot along with my other meds. The really bad ones hit me when it's that time of the month. Is it possible that my monthly cycle has something with my seizures??? Sometimes I have warning signs but most of them I don't even know I have them. I have All different kinds of Seizures
