Manual shifters are found on vehicles with automatic transmission (Auto, DSG, CVT) to override the Gearshift sequence, mimicking a manual transmission. You cab hold a gear/Drop a gear or down to give you max torque at certain speed and visa versa. Sometimes manual overide can be used in slippery conditions to lock a gear, preventing overslip and loss of traction.
