I remember listening to this song upward of a hundred times on cassette, while laying in my sleeping bag on the floor of our barracks. This was in Saudi Arabia, right after Desert Storm had ended. It was one of my favorite songs on the album, John Williams: Greatest Hits of the Guitar. At that point, I'd never heard of The Deer Hunter, a movie that I probably watched for the first time, twenty years later. This beautiful song, along with the Williams rendition of the Beatles Here, There and Everywhere were definitely my favorites. I don't know if I've heard as wonderful a version as you've recorded since. I truly appreciate your passion.

I have never heard such an emotional and dramatic rendition of this simple song.

As always a delight to listen and behold. The tone of the guitar and dynamic control are something else.
