My Cavachon pup loves people! She approaches every person she meets. She loves and plays with almost every dog she sees - unless it,s a huge dog (she is 8 pounds). She is so cuddly - unless she,s napping, she wants to play! My favorite thing is the way she is with her special people. When in my lap, she turns around and cranes her neck so that she is looking up at me in the face. Melts my heart!

I completely agree with all of your points about the Cavachon. My dog is very low maintenance, and has a wonderful personality. Great with kids too. She has joint issues but is relatively healthy at 14 years old.

I have a Cavachon and she is super smart. Her name is Daisy and she rings the bell letting us know she wants to go outside. She'll walk into her crate when we are getting ready to leave. She will sit without asking to get a treat.

Our Cavachon is 12 He loves people. Nice lap dog and spends the day with me at the farm. He rides with me in the tractor sitting in the buddy seat.

I got a Cavachon puppy today, so thank you for the facts. He is a lovely dog, such a sweet temperment. He seems to already be attached to me . He likes to snuggle up against people after playing for a little while. I hope that he will be easy to train, so far he has been a very sweet dog. Of course one of the best things about Cavachons is they are ADORABLE, those eye and the gorgeous coat

No two dogs are exactly the same! My Cavachon is my first small dog. I have had dogs all my life, from "all Americans," my name for mixed breeds, to pure breeds. I had nothing but German Shepherds for over 35 years, my favorite breed after adopting a rescue back in the '70's. Then I became disabled and knew I couldn't give a Shepherd the life that they needed, so I adopted my Cavachon. He came to me at 9 months old. He was originally from an Amish puppy mill. They couldn't sell him, I was told, because he was "too big for his breed." He's been a joy. My last Shepherd loved him, and vice versa. She treated him like her puppy, and he treated her like his mother. My Shepherd was very old then, but lived at least 6 more months because of the puppy. He enlivened her. The Cavachon I have, Cooper, is the hardest dog I’ve ever had. Much more demanding than my Shepherds. Professional grooming every 6 weeks. VERY fussy eater! Very independent. Suddenly stopped his house breaking after I was in the hospital and rehab for a couple of weeks. Can't explain why! He was cared for by my brother, his favorite person! BUT, I love him very much! So, I cook for him, take him regularly for grooming, and put papers down for him. Etc. BUT, He's worth it. He's 40+ pounds. He was already 20 lbs as a puppy. He loves other dogs, babies and children. He's great with the elderly, too. Visited in nursing homes many times! He's cured several children of their fear of dogs! He's a favorite at the park, and NEVER fights, even if attacked, which scares me. Overall a lovely, gentle, loving dog. I don't think there's anyone who wouldn't fall in love with this breed!

My Cavashon is quite medium in size and very playful, always full of energy. Although if I have a lazy day he will also happily cuddle up and sleep all day too!

Cavachons are adorable even when they know you or Company is leaving the house. They get depressed and frumpy. Frumpy means they beg you not to go away!

Bella is very intelligent, has a fabulous personality and cute as she can be. Too bad I haven’t met a two legged woman with these characteristics!

I have a cavachon. She is a little over a year. She's very sweet..when she wants to be. When I got her she was a dark tri-color. All color has faded to white and light tan. Talk to your breeder if they are avertising puppies as dark tri-color. They are low shedding but daily brushing is a must. She has tangles every day. Monthly visits to groomer is a must. I think she is a cavapoo. Breeder was selling both breeds. Do a lot of reading before purchasing.

My 14-month-old Cavachon girl dog is loving and accommodating. Almost never bark. Very submissive in the dog park and everyone even the most aggressive dogs also love her. She is quite intelligent and tries to listen to what we say to her. She picked me as her favorite person and always try to be by my side. After teaching few times, she quickly learns not to chew on shoes or electric wire or anything which we don't like. And try to please us with her tricks. On the negative side, a picky eater and some meat or fish need to mix in kibble for her to eat. She has wandered off with the slightest lack of attention. One time decided to follow my car in a busy street as the backyard door did not latch and I left in hurry. She is very healthy and doctors are very happy that she is lean and in perfect shape. Also, note when we leave home we need to give her one of my unwashed cloth and she usually sits on it the whole time till we are back. She does not destroy anything but gets very sad if home alone (hardly even eat if home alone)

Also she loves grilled salmon. For that she can leave me as well. Even though she will get back to me as soon as food is finished.

Not all of them, but i think it is pretty typical for Cavachons.

I’m getting a cavachon in a few days! it’s a little girl and is about 3 months old, we are thinking about naming here joey 😁

I wouldn't say they're a small dog. They're a medium size dog. (I have a Cavachon. And I've had actual small breed dogs) - Mine doesn't shed at all. Mine is very lazy and loves to do her own thing.

Agree. I thought ours would be small but ended up definitely in the medium range once grown. He too does his own thing a lot of the time :) friendly and likes a good family fussing but happy to wander off and just flop behind the sofa haha!

not all are small, i have 3 aince 2014 and 1 is really small and 2 are really big, yes the body is small but very long legs so they stand at my knee length

My girl has a long body of the cavalier and the short legs of the bichon. I've seen some cavachons look more like the bichon. All curly and white. Some look more like the cavalier.. Straight fur, not curly. My pooch has the latter. She's very pretty. I've had poodles in the past but found them aggressive. Sometimes.... My first cavachon and this little one there isn't a bad bone in her body. So sweet natured. So kind. Such a darling.

I know your not a Vet. But I’m asking your opinion. I have 2 Cavachon females 1 year and 8 year old. When they get over stimulated , they produce a “hacking” cough like sound . It scares me to death!! Like there is something in her throat. But there isn’t. Is this just a coincidence both have this problem? Or is it characteristic of the breed. Once they settle down, they recover.

Dogs coughing when excited is fairly common. If your dogs coughing only when they are excited and they are not coughing other times, than there probably is nothing to be worry about. If they would be coughing when laying down or on a normal slow walk, than you should visit veterinarian. But as you said, i am not a vet and if you want to be absolutely sure, there is nothing wrong to see a vet and listen to his opinion as well.

I don't agree with the exceris part mine is full of engery have to run him around haif a day as well as walk for hour , or he will be destructive

I love mine. I walk her one mile every day.

My cavachon likes to nibble on me

Our cavachon hates men. Squeals at other dogs just to say hi but comes across as aggressive. Very anxious as in expected to be hit or something. I love him dearly but not reciprocated. Makes me sad 😢

My girl loooooves people and other dogs too. She thinks every person she encounters in our walks will pet her. But she can be very demanding of our attention at times.

I LOVE my Cavachon, but he is an extremely fussy eater. Has anyone found a food their Cavachons can't resist? I worry that he is not getting the nutrients he needs.

Mine eats the dog food I make. But loves anything with liver flavour or liver in the food. She loves sweet potato and carrots as treats.

My girl is a cavachon. She's 3. Very gorgeous face very bright, intelligent kind loving. The only part that sheds on the cav are the ears and tail. You'll see honey on my channel. Took about 1 day to teach her the meerkat, to twirl, she's very bright. Even talks 'barks' on request. Honey is golden blonde and has black tricolour in her tail and ears from the cavalier who was a tricolour. Teach your baby tricks to its good for their little brains

I have a 7 year old cavachon, he's funny , likes doing tricks, likes playing with other dogs, very sociable but is quite stubborn, only does things when he feels like it, for a small dog he is a good guard dog. 😊
