Can't beat clipping, especially when there a nice wee breeze to get a face full. Cattle are looking great as always gerry
The battery clippers are a great job if you go about changing. We’ve one at work and it’s brilliant.
There a fair pair of clippers 👍it's probably getting to the stage that I need a pair over my head 😂😂
Good job clipping, always do calves and yearlings as they come in for winter. Clip tail on cows helps stop them flick muck over their backs , and me when passing😂
Team work makes the dream work !!......nice one Gerry 😎😎

Are you using a cattle prod?
@gerry6420

Yes. It’s better then beating them with a stick or priding them with a fork like I seen other do. If you have a stubborn one give him a little dart and he pops forward to Trap his head. Less abuse and stress on the animal
Gerry do you clip your cows backs when they are housed.

No. Not usually. I have clipped their tails before calving before. If you had to assist any calving stops you getting hit with poo covered tails

What clippers are you using please?
Nice video Gerry. Wouldn't they feel better in a layer of straw, instead of just a bare ground? Just wondering Gerry. 😉👍👍👍🇺🇸

Yes they would be more comfortable on straw. The issue in when you have numbers it takes a lot of straw to keep them bedded. And the costs are unsustainable. So we only have straw on new born calves or if an animal gets sick. But they are comfortable on the slats. It’s dry and sheltered. When the get up after sitting the ground is warm where they have lay.

What do you think of the head locking gate you have there at the end of your crush? We're ment to be getting one the same for a new crush
That red white head bullock there in front of you at 9.12 in the video seems to be doing a lot of panting there gerry, maybe it's the excitement of being outside but always handy keep an eye on him for pneumonia

Yes that was just after they were back in. They had been fighting. He was fine when feeding them
How do you find cattle on slats
@agrifan5349

If your having trouble finding cattle on slats you'd want your eyesight tested 😜...kidding of course. I don't know about Gerry, but personally i find them to be no problem at all. Some people use rubber slat mats however I'm not a fan because of the cost of them and they'll get torn and pulled out of place over time which is really dangerous if your walking through a pen of cattle for you could trip on them very handy. Have had some cattle in sheds before where the front of the pens are slatted and the back is bedded with straw, i find this to be great as they dung on the slats as they stand to feed and then lie back on the clean straw. Straw being pulled onto the slats can be minimised by stepping the back portion of the shed about 18 inches below the slats for great results. Hope this helps
Por que eles fazem isso
Farmer phill put the same vid up haha

Dont think alot of your video when you have to use a electric stinger. . ???
Lost a bit of respect for you using a electric shock to just get them in the crush shows very poor respect for animals
