Muffin is definitely a unique cat! My cat, adopted at 6 months from a shelter, started to chew on the grass like plants on day 1. Tossed the plant. Within the next week, my ficus 'tree' was a scratching post, litter box, and pouncing victim. I didn't have plants after that. My Scindapis-in-need-of-watering says hi to its twin.

I've given up on getting my Luna girl to stop eating plants. I know it is for food attention. She will just put her face in a bushy hoya obscura sitting on my desk and wait. Anything I want out of her reach, I hang on the curtain rods. Best tip you've ever shared!

My spider plants are the only ones my cats mess with. When one of our dogs is feeling sick, she'll eat on some.

The spider plants! Turn my back on one for 0.5 seconds and it’s mowed down to the base. 😂 The guilty cat started her life outdoors, and when she doesn’t get to go out to eat some grass every once in a while, she just craves it. I have yet to find a cat grass that’s easy to keep long-term indoors but it does help when I’ve got some growing.

My cats are all but angels and have almost never chewed on any plant I have. A few months ago I did find my senior girl Daenerys nibbling on my syngonium. Shooed her off fast, took the hint, and made a fresh batch of wheat grass.

Free-standing hangers are a very attractive option, but more expensive than wall hooks. They also make laundry poles that wedge between your floor and cieling, that could function the same way, and are less expensive. It really depends on how your home is shaped, but a loft like yours really would look like with some.

I have 2 cats and hundreds of plants as well, I never take for granted that they won’t ever have any interest for the plants but for years now, I make sure to give them the attention they need, affection, sufficient play time, grooming, rotate toys and do not leave them out, plenty of scratching posts, hiding spots and schedule meals not free feeding, this will put your cat on a routine and cats love that. Basically, cats that are not bored out of their little minds will not have interest in plants. DO NOT use a spray water bottle to squirt your cat, the action will be associated with you and make your cat fearful of you not the plant or the behavior and trust me they will do it when you are not looking. Working on redirecting the behavior is the best way to change. If impossible cause cats are cats, well make them unreachable 😊

My dog thinks she’s a cat & learned to be around plants 🦋 but when she is alone for long time can be destructive like a cat 🐈‍⬛ I can only say she will not pull a plant from its pot, but will play with its leaves like spider plants & Christmas cactus 😮and yes I do have cactus but they’re out of reach for her. My dog is about 18 months old and she’s a husky. I have more than a thousand plants and she leaves most of them alone ❤

My cats use the euphorbia as a face scratcher. I have 5 cats and about 200 plants and the only one who messes with the plants is the indoor/outdoor chicken.

all of the cats and dogs that I have had seemed to ignore my plants. Maybe because they are just part of their normal world. don't know. But thank you for telling people about toxic to pet plants. Many just don't know. Many essential oils are also toxic and people need to know that. glad to see you back to your spunky self.

My foster has 0 interest in my plants except when he gets hungry. I grew him some wheat grass and now he leaves my plants alone and munches on the wheat instead :)

I've lived with cats and plants for 35 years. YMMV, but I find my cats don't chew on the plants if I grow them a pot of cat grass. (I've even grown lawn seed when I couldn't find cat grass seeds.) I've also also given them sprouted wheat grass from the health food store on occasion.

This will sound weird but oxalate crystals, specifically in urine are actually really beautiful lol. Before I got sick I was a veterinary tech and one of my many jobs was to do urinalysis on sick animals. Oxalate crystals look like little square diamonds and struvite crystals look more like emeralds. Anywho, oxalate crystals will irritate the lining of the bladder causing an infection usually with blood and is what causes male cats to block. It forms this gritty almost sandy sludge...very cool but obviously not for said cat. Ok I'm finished with my urine crystal TED talk.😁 Love your videos and give Muffin a little boop from me.🤗😸
