Opening credits from the 3rd series of CATS Eyes from 1987, episode A Naval Affair, in which corrupt navy bigwigs attempt to assassinate an old flame of Maggie's over his radical frigate designs. Recorded on the original transmission date in 1987 in the TSW region. You can just catch a glimpse of the original TVS ident logo at the beginning of the clip. Music by legendary saxophonist and composer Barbara Thompson.

RIP Jill u were bloody amazing in this. I remember as a asian kid aged 9 o 10 watching u and the other females and fell for u all.
This theme was by husband and wife team Jon Hiseman (drums) and Barbara Thompson (sax) who are very well known performers and session players. They also played on the original CATS Musical ironically. John Kongos's theme was darker but this was 1986/7 - things were getting very throwaway musically...

I didn't know they also played on the original, that's interesting. The Kongos version is by far the better in my view.

The original CATS musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber in 1982 :) Not the first theme from 1985. That was all Kongos and his synths. I like them both. It's a shame this wasn't released commercially. The full version is actually quite good .

My parents had a tape of Babs’ tunes once. We also saw her at an open air festival.
Fantastic show and it's a shame the rights issue hasn't been resolved.as I would love this to be repeated again.

i always preferred this theme to the original, my favourite was Fred (leslie Ash)
Interesting to learn Lesley Ash had a claim to fame before Men Behaving Badly.

UK's version of Charlie's Angels
@TheWraith Its original concept was more of a british version of Charlies Angels, but set in Chatham. The original titles with the John Kongos theme was much cooler.

realy weird intro, i remember the show, but not the music kinda mixed between dempsy and makepeice & the proffesionals, all gone horrably wrong LOL

One of the worst tv themes ever. Very 80,s but very mish-mashed
I'd forgotten about this dross. An appallingly bad attempt at ripping of Charlie's Angels but it failed on every conceivable level..
