True! so many neglect them and wonder why they act out. Saw a show on problem cats, Every instance it was an ignorant lazy or cheap owner. They need time, attention and they can cost a bundle & live for 15 yrs plus. It drives me up the wall hearing about people just letting them loose outside cause they dont want to wait to move to a pet friendly community. How do you do that? They have feelings, emotions, they dream talk in their sleep etc like little people. Cruel..

Well we have a cat in this house that was born as a stray kitten so he likes to go outside every once in awhile but only in the backyard or the front yard he knows his limits​@@gordocarbo

Well, i have two cat's from my sister just for a week. 1.5 year later they are still here. I love them, even they steal my couch, bed, kitchen and such😂. They are true friends and i love them

I've always had dogs, and I always thought cats were less affectionate than canines. But one day a street cat made me change my mind. I usually sit on my terrace in the evening to enjoy the stars. I noticed that there was a cat that was often in my garden at night. I never approached him, I watched him from afar and the cat did the same on me. Months later, he came quietly trotting in my direction and sat next to me. Since then he comes to visit me from time to time, and he is very affectionate. All of this was very surprising to me.

Or they had a bad cat experience as a child, or they’re comparing them to dogs😂 or they don’t understand a cat is choosing to love, not forced by their very nature to love you. Unlike many people, cats will show you their boundaries. I can respect that.

I remember when I was down at rock bottom a couple of years ago... whenever I would break down into tears, my furr kiddo would always come into the room and console me. She wouldn't leave until I stopped crying. If it wasn't for my Mars bars, I don't think I would be here today. I dedicate this post to you, Marley, for helping me out of my depression. I came from a nonstop screaming/fighting household and the kitten raised in that hellpit was very withdrawn, scared and insanely aggressive (some PTSD ish that I also hav) her whole life (Still loved her to pieces tho), and the kitten raised in the peace and silence of my new apartment is very affectionate, sleeps with me/follows me around.

I had a friend who was a dog lover. He pretty much got furious when he saw that I got a cat instead of a dog. He claimed they were not playful or affectionate and I got not one but two😂 I and my babies(Bailey and Blue)went to spend the weekend at his home. Needless to say,I woke up on Sunday morning to see my friend cuddle up with both cats and all 3 were knocked out. On Monday he was on his way to a shelter to get his cat😂😂😂 Cats tend to grow on you,my babies are my heart❤

I love em both,I have a dog and a black cat and they are brothers, they even sleep and play together , and of course both of em jump on my bed to wake me up in the mourning. Impossible to wake up and not smile, really. The pharaohs were really serious about treating cats with respect and love,they said that black cats had the power of the sun in their eyes.

Cats are the most wonderful creatures on Earth...love a cat and own a cats love, gives life a whole new dimension.

Watching this while my baby cat 'Tofu' is peacefully sleeping on my lap. My personal heater 😇

My cat sleeps this way with me alot. It’s just so precious.

my grandfather, who was a doctor, had adopted a kitten. the cat was free and not neutered, when my grandfather went out to see his friends, the cat took his liberties and went outside to see his girlfriends and friends as well. the cat, from time to time, returned injured in the paw or elsewhere, and as my grandfather was a doctor, he took care of it and the cat quickly regained its form. I, when I was little, loved his cat very much, to the point that I no longer knew whether I was visiting my grandfather or his cat. the cat was so nice and cute, that i pulled his whiskers, his ears, his tail, i carried him anyhow etc. he never scratched me. in the morning it was the cat who woke up my grandfather, by standing right next to him. when my grandfather passed away, the cat was so sad that he refused to eat. my father even bought him ground beef, first choice, but he would only watch what was left for him, always sad, then go to sleep on my grandfather's bed. the cat died a month later of grief, he was barely 4 years old. we buried him in a forest adjoining the cemetery where my grandfather is buried.

Cats leave forever paw prints on your heart. Whenever I am sad , I search for Hanna’s pictures ( Indian Calico Cat). They always make me smile and feel good! Thank God for Cats ! What a therapeutic creature !

I will never forget when my Beautiful Orange and White Tabby helped ME when my wisdom teeth were pulled. After the novocaine wore off, I cried like a baby, because I was in so much pain! London came to my rescue! He started licking my tears and rubbing the sore spot with his silk fur! I began to heal after that! I love ❤️ you London! I miss you so much 😢!

Cats are just the most delightful creatures ever! I still don’t get how anyone could call them aloof or unemotional.

It depends on the cat though. They have a huge range of personalities just like dogs, some cats are really affectionate (the very best kind!) and plenty of them just want to hiss at you and try to slash you with their claws.

I have changed my opinion about cats. In childhood I was always told that cats do not show emotions, but this is really not true. At first, a neighbor's cat visited me every day, and a short time later my boss also brought his two cats to the office every now and then. They now regularly lie on my stomach during work and purr loudly. Really great animals.

I was never a fan of cats but I got one during the pandemic to help with the isolation and depression and can I honestly say I love every type of cat now. My cat is absolutely spoiled he has a water fountain and a huge cat condo, every time I have spare money I tend to spend it on him.

haha They're so silly and sweet. My cat likes to leap onto my shoulders and lick the back of my neck and head. It tickles a lot and makes me laugh hysterically.😄 We love our little Jellybean.

my cat keeps me company all the time its sooo sweet. i also have depression and she goes on my stomach to make biscuits when she notices im having an episode and it cheers me up every time

MY depression got so bad in my 50s I had to face it...having a cat helps more than anything else. Unconditional love...they depend on ya and if for that reason alone its worth waking up for the next day

I’m a mid 60’s male and a confirmed cat lover my entire life. In my younger days, the stereotypical male had an aggressive dog breed to confirm masculinity. It seems in latter times, males have learnt what extraordinary creatures cats are and are enjoying cat ownership in ever increasing numbers.

my uncle used to be a hunter so he always owned a dog to go to the woods with him. She died (he mostly had females) and he got another, then another,... his house is surrounded by fields and he started having a mice problems so even tho he hated the idea at first he was basically forced to get a cat because nothing else worked. It took the cat a few hours to make him LOVE cats! Then some psycho killed her (the cat) and he found the body... something in his broke completely, he quit his job and got two cats (he does something else now) XD his latest dog was just being at home getting fat because he didn't go to the woods for hours anymore. She died recently and he doesn't want a new dog. Then he adopted two strays which one of them had kittens so now he has like 6 of them, I think? He's turning into Hemingway lol

I adopted a senior cat he was a big boy with the best cuddles. When my dad found out about him he was furious he told me to return him. But I didn’t and when dad came to visit me he fell in love with Figaro. He was the sweetest and funniest boy and I will love him for eternity. RIP Figaro we all miss you! 🥹

Cats are so... cute. I had 4 cats in my life. The first at my parents. Was a female that got to be 16 or 17 yo. She woke me up once in the middle of the night because she was going into labor. The others were male. Males are definately different, more dominant. The can be cuddlier than females, but they can be a pain sometimes too. My first, as an adult, he got to be 16. He trusted me completely. I could lift him up by the back and when he was facing me and do a salto with him, with him ending in my arms, straight up with head just above my shoulder. Or drape him in my neck and he would stay their, without holding him even. Second too. Maybe even more, pushing him as he layed on the laminate floor and him gliding over it, and my daughter catching him at the other end. He died at about 10. My last one, i got 5 years ago and he died last year. (FIP). Boy that was a piece of work. I had to fight him as small kitten, 8 weeks old, bc he kept challenging me, attacking even. He was so mad he spit at me. I never knew cats could spit, but he did. He almost scared me. I remember fighting him on the bed, telling him to cut it out as i was squeezing to hold the little thing. I was scared id break something almost. And when he calmed down and i let him go, he just went on. Eventually i figured that wasnt the way to correct that behavior, so i decided to ignore the F out of him when he did that. No love at all when he was like that, as if he didnt exist. That worked and his behavior changed. But boy was he dominant. He really enjoyed being on top of me, on my chest and always looked like "I got you. Whos your daddy now huh?"I let him, bc he did love me and wasnt attacking anymore. He was also a little baby at times. But never liked it if i stroked his back, which most cats like (except the tail end). Something must have happened before i got him, but i dont know what. Eventually i was allowed to touch his belly and paws and toes and so. But not his back much. He knew how to play me too when he wanted something. If i took too long on the computer and he wanted something, he would come sit on the mouse chord, and ofc i told him to get off that. So he then sat at his best pose, just to my right, looking all so sweet, staring me right in face, like he was trying to hypnotise me. And it worked. Because he was so cute then. I could say many things. He was my buddy, but boy, was he dominant. All of a sudden he got sick last year, april i believe. He didnt eat, not eve nice things. So i took him to the vet, where he damaged 3 employees. (yea, like i said.. he was dominant). I got some anti bios and stuff, but they already said for a 4 year old, that it was probably not something good. Also some stuff to improve his appetite. It worked for a few days. A bit. All in all he didnt eat a quarter of what he ate normally. I tried everything, up to beef, ham, salmon, real butter, etc. Anything to get some food in because he was loosing weight SO fast. Went back to the vet and had an echo done and bloodwork. It was either FIP or leukose. Fip is untreatable, so i got meds to deal with leukose. Didnt do anything. Normally they die in less than 2 weeks from Fip. He was so weak, so fast, he injured himself just jumping 30 cm, but he kept trying anyway. Most of the time he was laying on the bed. I begged him to eat and i think he tried, just to please me. It was hot by then and his entire belly was infected and swollen and hurting of course. I put a fan to the bed and brought him cold comresses which i was allowed to put on his belly. It relieved pain a bit. He was getting worse and worse. I was crying and he licked the tears away and jumped of the bed and wanted downstairs and ate a few bites. But then layed down again. So i carried him back up. I was crying again and he bit me softly, as to say "stop wining". That last night he was miauwing in pain. I couldnt sleep and was getting pretty exhausted. So, they had already said a week earlier that it would not end well and that when the time came, i had to come in. I had decided before that too much pain would have to be the moment to end it, so the next day i went. Asked again if i made the right decision and ofc they said yes, but i needed to hear that. He didnt even resist anymore. Was too weak. He made it almost 3 weeks, which is quite longer than normal with that. Ive lost cats before and i hated it of course, but this was different. Since im alone i got way more attached than before. Like i said,he was my buddy. And i got really depressed. I tried to hide it, bc i dont allow myself to be depressed, but i was. I didnt do anything since. Just sat here. I still miss him. Silly how you can attach so much to a pet, but its the only living thing i have. And i didnt dare to get another one, bc i was afraid it might be contagious somewhere. And generally, im not good with losing someone anymore. Not even a pet. But about a month ago i decided i had to get over it and get me another one. Ill never forget this one and stil miss him. And im scared that something will happen to the next one. But, i have one waiting, or better, im waiting. Hes 6 weeks now and in 2 weeks ill go get him. I have little choice. My neighbour has 4 and some weeks ago i told her im a sort of cat seducer, trying to lure her cats to come cuddle with me a bit when i see them outside. They missed him too at first. That last night, before he started miauwing, he was on my chest the last time and looked at me with the same look as ever "I OWN you" Purr purr. While i was holding his back legs a bit, more so that he wouldnt fall. It was all bone. Even his face and neck were skinny. But he still enjoyed that moment. He knew it was ending. The thing that got me most was that 2 years ago was quite a shitty summer. And cats like summer of course. Its just some 3 to 4 months here in NL and with some bad luck you can hardly call it summer at all. I had promised him all the time that it would be summer soon. And he died right before. It made me feel so guilty. Also promised him he would be my last cat and we would grow old together. I never thought he would die so soon. I feel i let him down, but there wasnt more i could have done. Im also mad. Why MY cat? My neighbour has 4 and they all still alive. Its not fair. But yea, nothing ever is. Its time to move on. Im not getting any younger and i need an animal to talk to. All my cats always talked to me. Even my neighbours cats now talk to me. Im not crazy; i mean its cat talk. Its not like we discuss Socrates or rocket science, but you know what i mean. You can really communicate with them and different miauws have different meanings. Im curious how this one is going to be. He looks real cute. Another tiger, like all my cats have been. (european wild form) Anywise, 2 more weeks and there will be new life in my tomb. Maybe ill age a bit less fast then. Its the first thing in years im looking forward too. Also worries me, but such is life i guess.

When people ask me what my favorite song is I tell them it's my cat purring. There's nothing like having the love and trust of a cat. 😻

The best feeling is when you know your cat sees you as family.

When I was a child, I had a cat. He was the cutest little fella. He wanted cuddles all the time and would sleep in my bed all the time. When he died, I just couldn't get another cat. Plus, the doctors found that I have allergies and pet are off limits. But my allergies aside, nothing will replace Leo. Rest in peace, my furry little friend.

I'm glad I don't have a cat that is an alarm clock. But when I start rolling over and waking up, he hears, jumps up on the bed, gets a few pets, and meows like, "Come on, get up, I've been awake for hours!"

Somehow my cats Elcy-Rin and Bullet would often jump onto my bed while I was in it, even jumping onto me, but never woke me up, they would always do it when I was awake. I guess they are so observant they could tell the difference between me actually being asleep and just trying to sleep.

If I lie down on the floor, my cat always comes over and rubs her face all over me. It's like she's like "oh hi, nice to see you down here!" This is particularly adorable if she does it when I've gotten hurt and slumped to the floor in pain, because it feels like she's concerned about me when she walks over. I'm not sure if it's purely that she thinks I've come down to socialize with her, or if she really does know I'm in pain or anguish, but it's very touching nonetheless.

Love to see masculine dudes loving on cats. The stereotype of cats are for women, dogs for men is stupid. They are both fantastic and more pressure needs to be put on cultures that treat them badly or eat them.

Cats are just as good as dogs. Just different. As a guy my past Siamese came to his name, purred in my lap and bed as I slept, howled 20 min before I got home at all random times, played all the time, etc.Very good boy. Miss him.

I was pretty impressed with all the young adult males showing love to their cats

i love cats for these reasons.

My parent's cat would always nuzzle into my dad's beard as a kitten. She turned out to be the best nanny for my sister and I as infants a few years later. Whenever we would make a peep, she would run to my mom and meow until my mom followed her to check on us. She was fixed and never had kittens of her own. My sister and I were her kittens. Even in old age, she would try to get on the top bunk of my bunk bed to sleep with me and watch over me. She would meow until someone placed her next to me up there when she could no longer get up herself. Rest in Peace, Pokey. You ran out the front door when the babysitter showed up instead of dying in the house when it was your time. We never found you, but I hope to see you again when it is eventually my time

I had dogs before but never a cat. Now at 64, we have two wonderful and spoiled cats that we adopted from the alley last year. Lucky and Gracie. Sisters. Gracie loves attention and loves napping on my lap. She also seems to know when I am almost home from work. I never knew how great and funny cats can be. I love our two little ones!

Cats always know how to comfort. When my dog passed 5 years ago her cat brother was very depressed and I helped him through it and then he helped me through my grief. They’re buried next to each other in the back yard. I miss them both. But in a way I have them back. My girl has my late dog’s sweet personality, and my boy, other than his different breed is exactly like his predecessor. That’s why I named him Manny2. Both know how much I love and need them. Cats like their me time but they’re far from aloof. They’re so loving.
