I live in a very diverse society. Our nation has over 130 languages. We cook our traditional dishes, esp Adobo, in several ways. People are influenced by varied cultures abroad. And we have differing political views. But the only thing that unifies us is the Catholic Church. And when I go abroad, I feel united with the world through the Catholic Church.

I am an Australian cradle Catholic who married a Filipina. When attending Mass in the Philippines, although the Mass is said in a different language, I know where we’re up to in the order of the Mass and follow the English language Bible readings on my smartphone. If I lose my place, my wife points me to the right page. I feel very much at home in the Catholic Faith with Filipinos who love and live their Catholic Christian Faith in a strong joyous community.

@@Freedom_is_better_than_safety Not necessarily. I have been to some VERY ordinary ‘62 Missal Masses. For me, the most solemn and inspiring Masses I’ve attended are proper solemn ’69 Missal Masses with full choir, full complement of bishop, concelebrating priests, deacons, servers, incense, candles and bells-truly soaring and uplifting. The ‘69 Missal is just as beautiful as the ‘62, when the rubrics are properly followed.

Adult convert to Catholicism here. Over the six years I inquired and studied on my journey to being received in the Church, I went to Masses in the U.S., South America, and Europe, and not once did I feel judged or noticed for not knowing when to stand or kneel or what the spoken responses were. People were friendly, but worshiping and doing their thing. So this whole notion that people judge harshly if you don’t know “what to do” is a straw man. I think she is mislabeling her church, the only united church was the United Methodist but when the UM Church started to sugar coat the word of god and say it was ok to appoint female and LGBTQE pastors the church broke up as the individual churches voted to break their bonds with the UM church. A lot of these Protestant churches are just franchise churches licensed to use the main church name like the Baptist church well when satan showed his ugly woke agenda in the United Methodist church the individual churches cancelled their affiliation. The Catholic Church is no stranger to satans woke agenda just look no further than your current pope giving blessing to those living in sin with no intention of leaving their sin behind of course I am referring to the Popes warm embrace of the LGBTQ movement. As a Christian I rebuke him and run as fast as I can to escape his agenda and his teachings. It takes deep faith and courage to stand by the word of god and go against the accepted norms of todays society and accept the hate you just have to always remember that Jesus said that you will be hated because of him and that they hated him before the world hated you.

Let me explain why I believe this isn’t an accurate doctrine. 1. This doctrine was made doctrine over a thousand years after Christ’s resurrection. That in itself does not make this bad, but should give us an understanding that there is no proof the disciples saw it this way. 2. The context of John 6 is that Jesus has just fed the 5,000 and the people wanted him to show more signs and be fed again. He said this as a way to see who had the true faith to stay. You may say I’m leaping here and assuming, but he does use figurative language a lot, especially early in his Earthly ministry. “I am the vine.” “I am the door.” He’s not shrubbery or made of wood. But, there is more evidence than just he may have been frustrated. 3. Compare the interaction of John 6 with the woman at the well. It’s only two chapters before this in John 4. He says that whoever drinks the water from him will never thirst. To say one of these is figurative and the other is literal is inconsistent interpretation. The contexts are similar. However, notice that Jesus said that if you drink from him you’ll never thirst. Depending on the Church the elements of Christ’s body and blood can last anywhere from 15-55 minutes. Why is drinking water from him forever, but his body and blood less than an hour? 4. During the Last Supper Jesus used bread and wine. As he was using his body he didn’t literally use it. In none of the accounts did it say he used his blood. If he used symbols, why can’t we assume in “remembrance” is not that literal body and blood? Let’s say that he did make the elements body and blood, though. What happened right after? Are you saying that Judas having Christ’s body and blood in him immediately went to betray him? Christ’s body and blood was given BY CHRIST and Judas still betrayed him? Within a few hours all of his disciples would scatter and deny him? Plus Luke 22:18 says he will not drink the fruit of the vine until he is in his Kingdom. He called it wine when he was being literal. That’s why this isn’t true. You can’t do hocus Corpus (what they did in the Latin when this doctrine came through.) Explain why my logic is wrong.

One of the main reasons there are 30-40,000 different denominations since the Reformation (incidentally this applied also at that particularly time) and something which is overlooked or disregarded is there is serious money in "owing" / "running" your own church. So many of the big pastors, in effect being their own Pope, are multi-millionaires, married and living lavish lifestyles - thank you very much, pastors for profit. Catholic clergy take vows of poverty , chastity and obedience and it is one of the reasons so many protestant pastors, such as MacArthur either overtly as with he, or covertly, feel the need to constantly attack, undermine and berate the Catholic Church - The One True Church of Jesus Christ. Regarding St Patrick’s in New York’s land price skyrocketing, perhaps the asset should be feeding the poor to the point that there be not one homeless person in Manhattan. This thread is about female priests. Nobody has been able to explain why a woman cannot perform the duties of parish priest, bishop, archbishop, Cardinal, or pope. Divorce yourself from traditional Catholic misogyny, and embrace the wonderful world of God given equality between men and women. God can ordain who ever the heck he wishes. Be happy that these women feel called to spread the word off God.

Does the history of the Catholic Church reflect a God who is pure Love or a God who is obsessed with rules? Love is all embracing. Rules restrict our congregation to those who can keep them, or at least claim to be able to. In my old age, I teach English to refugees and migrants, and there is so much given to me in appreciating the value of the diversity they bring. Love is indeed universal, but diversity of expression gives so much to both parties. Bravo to the Canadian Uniting Church minister. God has already blessed her.

Luke 9:50 records Jesus saying, “Do not stop him,” in response to someone who was casting out demons in Jesus’ name. Jesus continued, “For whoever is not against you is for you.” This passage emphasizes unity and cooperation among those who share a common purpose of spreading God’s word1. Additionally, in Matthew 28:16-20, Jesus gives the Great Commission to His disciples, instructing them to go into the world, make disciples, baptize, and teach obedience to His commands2. Both passages highlight the importance of working together to fulfill God’s mission. 🙏✨

Well obviously every Protestant believes exactly that, by the very nature of Protestantism. That is to say, all Protestants believe that having thousands upon thousands of denominations and churches that do their own thing, is perfectly fine and good, just as this minister does. Lutherans do not say "There is one true Church, and we are it", nor do Methodists, nor any other Protestant Church as far as I know. If the Lutherans believed that they are the one, true Church, then that would imply that everyone (other churches) should submit to their chatechism, and leaders (probably some board or something instead of a Pope and Bishops). This woman is literally a mirror image of Protestantism, how is that not so? I'm not Catholic (considering it), but this is obviously true.

If I may give an extended quotation from the Westminster Confession of Faith, chapter 25 - Of the Church 1) The catholic or universal church, which is invisible, consists of the whole number of the elect that have been, are, or shall be gathered into one, under Christ the Head thereof; and is the spouse, the body, the fullness of Him that filleth all in all. 2) The visible church, which is also catholic or universal under the Gospel (not confined to one nation, as before under the law), consists of all those throughout the world that profess the true religion, together with their children: and is the kingdom of the Lord Jesus Christ, the house and family of God, *out of which there is no ordinary possibility of salvation.* 3) Unto this catholic visible church Christ hath given the ministry, oracles and ordinances of God, for the gathering and perfecting of the saints in this life, to the end of the world: and doth by His own presence and Spirit, according to His promise, make them effectual thereunto. 4) This catholic church hath been sometimes more, sometimes less visible. And particular churches, which are members thereof, are more or less pure, according as the doctrine of the Gospel is taught and embraced, ordinances administered, and public worship performed more or less purely in them. 5) The purest Churches under heaven are subject both to mixture and error; and some have so degenerated as to become no churches of Christ, but synagogues of Satan. Nevertheless, there shall be always a church on earth to worship God according to His will. 6) There is no other head of the church but the Lord Jesus Christ; nor can the Pope of Rome in any sense be head thereof....

Know this, that there are two camps now on earth: Lucifer on one side and the road to Heaven and its followers on the other. You have all been marked. There are two signs now: the mark of the beast and the mark of the living Christ. Apocalypse 3(DRB) 3:14. And to the angel of the church of Laodicea write: These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, who is the beginning of the creation of God: The Amen,... that is, the true one, the Truth itself; the Word and Son of God. The beginning,‘ï ‘àpxï,... that is, the principle, the source, and the efficient cause of the whole creation.

I don’t think Catholics are out to make anyone feel bad or offended about not knowing what to say or do at the moment. It’s not like Catholics go to Mass seeking out who isn’t Catholic or who isn’t in unison with everyone. 😂imagine me waking up and making that my purpose for every Sunday Mass. then walking up to that person and scolding them. 😂that’s unheard of. At least I’ve never seen anything like that. Wait.. I have told ppl to be quiet a few times not anymore but they were literally having a full blown conversation during Mass and loud too. They were there to purposely disrupt Mass though.

A lot of strawmanning here. Protestants don’t view church as a social club as a rule, and many catholic parishioners view church as a social club. It seems that your phrasing is intentional, it’s too bad.

@dvdortiz9031 agreed. I just point out the absurdity of saying saved by grace, once saved. If one believes once saved always saved, why go to a church? To me that is absurdity and contradicts Jesus telling Peter on this, His Faith, I, Jesus will build My Church. Singular, not 16, 000 different varieties.

There is nothing wrong with having a variety of distinctive liturgies that reflect local history and traditions. The Latin Rite itself consists of more than just the Roman Rite. You have the Ambrosian, Mozarabic, Anglican (the Book of Divine Worship or the more ancientSarum) Rites and others that I can't think of right now.

I have great respect for the Catholic tradition and Bishop Barren. But your broad generalizations about Protestantism amount to a straw man that even a high schooler could pick apart. Please, we can't proclaim the Jesus truth unless we do things the Jesus Way. Means and ends have to line up. And Jesus taught with love and logic and power. He didn't take cheap shots and invent straw men to persuade people that he was the Christ. My Catholic friends are devout, practicing Catholics who have never approached disagreement the way I see you doing it here. Peace of Christ, Big
