@@3334me I watch this other channel called scamfish and it’s mostly old, unattractive women sending money to Nigerians pretending to be white, American either military guys, oil rig workers, or Doctors Without Borders. They get on the phone and they have these thick Nigerian accents and the women make excuses like “well he has been stationed in Germany for a long time and I think that’s a German accent”. I think deep down these people know they’re being scammed. They just love having someone to talk to everyday who tells them they’re beautiful and that they love them. I honestly think this could be a legit business someone can start. It’s like prostitution without the sex or even having to meet them. Just talk to them on the phone everyday and say you love them, and they’ll pay.

At first, Sham was the only one I actually felt for. I have a conspiracy theory about Catfish that I realized after rewatching the original documentary that kicked off the show. I believe that they all figured that lady was scamming him before they actually left on the road trip to go meet her. Pretending to figure it out on location after getting there. I fully believe now that they had figured out her scheme beforehand and knew before they even arrived.

What's app is a huge red flag... I believe most of these people know they're getting catfished, but they choose to ignore it because the attention they receive feels much better than confirming that that person is not real.

It’s hard for me to muster sympathy for the person with the “prince” because they were in love with the idea of being rich more than any idea of a person.

It's so so devastating to me that these people that have been consistently rejected, not only romantically but by general society, are so deeply lonely that they will resort to sending people they've never met money. Essentially paying someone to pretend to love you. I get that they're gullible and it should be obvious in a lot of cases, but it's still so fucking sad to see.

If people were more honest/realistic about what caliber person they can date the catfish phenomenon would reduce dramatically.

It is so sad these people are so lonely that the become this. But what is even sadder is that this show takes advantage of these mentally distressed group of people. Really shame on the people that enjoy watching the show.

My brother (in his mid 30's) talks to African women alllll the time online. He considers them his friends and has sent them money for when "they are in the hospital". It's SO painful for me to watch, but he is so lonely and is too insecure to meet anyone local 😢

I’m so glad that they’re being straight forward with these people about how they’re outta their mind for believing who they’re talking to. I feel like in the beginning they avoided having those straight forward convos
