CATERPILLAR 5130B Excavator loading Articulated Dump Trucks

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Long sticked CAT 5130B mass excavator loading BELL articulated dump trucks. Haul road to the fill site in this portion of project is too narrow for larger trucks hence the use of smaller ADT's.

Way back I was a sediment control inspector and was inspecting a road job that Mashuda was doing. Ralph Mashuda had ordered a 5130 and I got to watch it's first pass loading 777's. He was timing it, and comparing it to his 992 loader. He ended up keeping it. I became friends with Ralph and was sitting beside his dad at a pre-bid when he had his first stroke. I was out west when Ralph died of a stroke. Good people. The younger kids drove the company out of business. I can watch these big things for hours. I ended up with JF Allen for a while and they bought a PC2000. It along with a Hitachi 1100 and 992 moved 9,000,000 yards on Corridor H. It was cool to watch it get put together and start digging. I did lose one of my better operators to it. What a bear cleaning the tracks.

Well, not quite, he made a mess of the loading pad and forced the trucks to drive over some fairly large rocks bouncing them around quite a bit around the 4:10 mark. After this little dig watch how the dumper drivers have to slow down but still bounce around driving up to be loaded. I bet over the course of a couple hours that slow down would equal a few trucks?

if an excavator is configured so that it pushes away from itself (bucket teeth point forward) is it a shovel instead, specially if it has a back door on the bucket? for dumping?

You got to remember, these things have none of the DPF,DEF, proubably not even an EGR because they were made in the early to mid 90s. There is none of the modern computers to go wrong. And its proubably 1/4 the price of one that has a couple second load time that a better operator can make up for.

@@ArthurDentZaphodBeeb I'm not saying that the new stuff isn't faster, because it is. What I was saying is it's paid for, and a good operator could really make up for the newer and faster 6015/6020s. A 6015 would compare to a 5110b as well by the way. Really close, but a 5130 is a bit larger.
