    Now that I think about it. You should get out of the work trade you've more then likely been in. And get ahold of Catipillar and send them some of your vids. They should really take your knowledge in consideration. You no your stuff. You would be a great spokesperson for them. Especially during the Los Vegas construction show. You have a good discussion skill and good explaining method. Thanks.

    Yes. Good maintenance is the key to the long life of a machine. Giving the machine a frequent bath helps reduce grease and oil buildup which can become a fire hazard

    Great video and accurate but my personal feelings on this machine are negative. Don't get me wrong I prefer Caterpillar machines over others to work on but the 5130 is a lemon. Underpowered to start with and I believe the tracks are too narrow for the machine. They are notorious for literally breaking in half at the slew ring (I have seen this!!!) They require special maintenance in this area other diggers don't. I much prefer the smaller Komatsu PC1250. In my opinion Hitachi makes the best product in this size range.

  • @PAmining

    I disagree. Yes the 51/5230 had many design flaws but power was not one of them. The opposite is actually true. These machine were overpowered for how light they were built. And yes, slew rings were always a problem with the 5130. This particular unit had it's slew ring changed several times in it's life.

    PAmining I have only had anything to do with 2 different 5130s and both seemed slow, maybe they were both off a bit? Bad pumps or not set right maybe? My preference is Cat machines to work on but personally have never actually put a spanner to a 5130. I have had experience operating and maintaining many Hitachi excavators, 1200, 1900, 2500-1 & -5, 3600-5&-6 and 5500 which seemed to perform better than the 5130 (relative to their size). I have extensively worked on and operated PC1250's and found them a fairly good machine. Keep the videos coming they are some of the best machine videos on you tube.

    >_> lol just asking cause im in quarrying and planning on getting a 345 ,but considering getting a 245 as its just stronger and seems to handle the work better, what do you thinK?

  • @PAmining

    @PAmining

    10 жыл бұрын

    PCGAMR1 That depends on many factors. They are both good machines. 245's are bears for hard rock digging but don't have the speed nor the comfort that a newer Cat does. Many old time operators still believe the 200 series was the last good excavator series Cat ever built
