3400 series were great engines! Drove a lot of tractor trailers with 3406's and I drove one with a 3408, real hill flattener! We had a big 3516 generator at our plant, what a sound!

Yes, it was painted after the test run and no leaks found. Been in service about two years now.

@gm16v149 is a jacketwater aftercooler. so the air is cooled with air of about 80 degrees C

No, the D398 was superseded by the 3512. The 3412's closest predecessor would have been a D348.

the next serie of this engine is the C27 industrial(not highway ,road engine)

The box in the vee is a jacket water aftercooler.

I like the 3400 series Cats, they are very reliable in my experience. Those boxes in the V, are they aftercoolers or just air intakes?

Is the engine going to be painted?

cat builds one of the best diesel engines any diesel can run high miles but cat has always been in the top 3

just my opinion but if im paying for the rebuild im hoping to have fresh yellow paint everywhere.
