I am teaching a Logic course this year and learning as I go...is the copula in a proposition always going to be 'are'? Seems like it should be, but other teachers at my school say that 'is' is an acceptable copula for a categorical proposition. Are there any examples of a proper proposition using 'is'? Thank you so much! Your videos have made this all so much easier!

You can use either, as long as you are consistent. The text I use (the Hurley, "Concise Introduction to Logic") adopts 'are' as the standard convention. Hope that helps!

Absolutely! My school has written their own book and they switch back forth all the time! Really confuses the students. Hurley and lots of youtube videos are what I've used to learn everything. Thank you so much!!

thank you so much for this. I understand that my prof. understands this as he talks about it but I don't understand what he means as he passes the information along to us. In my opinion his teaching style sucks for me and he jokes around and can't answer questions very well. Its so unfortunate for me.
