Warwick, I have never enjoy learning from a horse trainer as much as I enjoy your teachings on video. Thank you for your outstanding and important contributions to making people better horse owners God bless you!
I learned from that. I have a pony who came off the mountain & I tolerated him defending his food. You have made me rethink that because as you say, it's disrespectful & I am not showing any leadership if I let him do it. I will deal with that today :)
You're doing an amazing job. Teaching practical techniques in an easy way. Well done.
I recently (December 2018) started watching Warwick's series with the eventing mare and I cannot imagine THAT guy approaching a horse the way THIS guy does! Of course this horse isn't as troubled as the eventing mare (perhaps not at all troubled), but I still find the difference in approach pretty fascinating. WS is the most interesting clinician out there because despite how enormously effective he already is as a trainer, his deep respect for horses keeps him searching for an even better way. I highly recommend subscribing to his video library, if I'm allowed to saythat on KZread.

Well said and good for you!!! If only many more horse people would come to that frame of mind!

@@aklinpilgri Thanks for the heads up. I don't do FB so I hadn't seen it. Actually that recognition I could have done without haha! That slam about me usually being judgmental?? That was nice. And gratuitous. And such a shock that I was forced to research my prior comments -- all 4 of them -- two were very positive, one neutral at worst, one insanely negative (about helmets -- just asking for trouble on that topic -- and I stand behind every word of it!) Tx again tho.
Man, that was great to see how a horse should behave upon catching. Thanks for sharing. 😀
These are really good videos they are helping me a lot :) Thanx
Good sensible advice, thank you
Speedy, of course you cant do this in a huge paddock, until you have taught it well in a smaller one first.
Good camera angle. Can see a lot.
This horse used to stand and let the halter be put on but after the pandemic it's been twice I enter his stall and he gives me the butt. This last time I asked a trainer to help me and she went in and scratched his rear end every time he gave her the butt (the girl wouldn't flinch much either), he would circle his butt to avoid her getting near his head. He never kicked but really thought that was really risky of her, unless that's the way you do it.
i have always heard that if you have something in your hand and you turn away from your horse he will get interested in what you have and come toward you. And if your horse i motivated with food, when you do get the halter on him, praise him.
I have jsut started working with a 3 year old filly who has never been handled, she will let me stroke her face but when presenting a head collar or lead role she turns and gallops off, I have no idea how to catch her, any tips?
How did that mare turn into a stallion?
what if the horse tried to kick you
I don't think they had water
