She definitely has an Evan crush ❤
We had our share of mean roosters growing up. He would be a jerk everyday when my brothers and sisters waited at the end of our driveway for the schoolbus. One Saturday morning, my mom asked me to go down the driveway to get the mail. The rooster chased me all the way into backporch of our house. Mom chased him out to the yard, and then went all angry momma bear on him. I have a picture in my mind of her broom in hand, standing wild-eyed over that quickly departed rooster in hair curlers and a nightgown. Us kids learned real damn quick that lurking beneath the loving sweet farmwife was someone we don't EVER wanna mess with. She's crazy!😆

JudithB I have 2 roosters so they stay busy picking on each other, instead of me or the hens. I have had my share of mean ones, so I dont turn my back on them!! LOL Piece of pvc pipe helps at times too!
Evan you are a thoughtful Husband to take care of so many details for Rebekah while you’re gone. You two make a great team. 💞
For the pond: if you cut down the grass around the pond edge before everything starts to grow for the season, it can sometimes help to keep duck weed from exploding. It needs the protection of the taller grasses through the winter to survive. So, if you take that away you may still have enough of a cold spell to end it's cycle. But... You need to act soon or it won't work.
Rebecca needs to always carry while outside (due to coyotes).
Hi.... Evan and Rebecca thanks you for showing your video homestead bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋👍👍👍
Year old roosters are called broiler chickens.
Evans you're a good man, good on you for making it easier on Rebecca while you're gone.
To both of you, once again thank you for the video. I have to say that it could get quite easy to get jealous of your healthy, outdoorsy type lifestyle that you share with us. Most people don’t realize exactly what you do NOT share with us. Your, 40-50 hour work week in the “real” world, the constant other bits and pieces that you don’t show, the constant resetting of cameras and equipment, like moving a car or truck 5-10 feet just to get a better picture. OR, trying to get an animal to cooperate in the making of a video. Again, thank you both for what you do and get no thanks for! Rod

Definitely nicer to take a breather or a tea break in that setting though. And you cannot beat that commute! 😂
That rooster might become Coyote chow or a trip to camp freezer lol
You need a donkey 🫏 they will protect your animals

I was gonna suggest that
Hey there Evan and Rebekah ! With all of those coyotes around you may want to consider a donkey...they're very protective for the animals in a farm and keep predators away ....😊
Have a good time at the tractor show and the meet and greet .
Great video. Have fun at the tractor show. I really enjoy your videos. Thank you for sharing your farm with us.
I know from previous videos you are planning on restoring your firewood store, I know that is a priority down the line. Can I suggest that you consider adopting a system of palletised/stillage storage to make it simpler to handle wood movements to the house. Simply store the wood on pallets with raised sides and move with the tractor as needed. Also keeps the main store more organised.
Used to love it when my grandfather told me to get some kindling wood. "SON! I NEEDJA TO GET SOME KILLIN WOOD!" 😅😅😅
Coyote breeding season January thru March, they become more aggressive during breeding season.
Enjoy yourself at the show !! I LOVE YOU GUYS !!!!! 🥰 🥰
Great video I really appreciate you sharing your experience and hope you all are doing well mate thanks again Joe from England Great Britain.
Have a good trip Even. Rebekah I pray all goes well for you while Even is away.
Theres 3 things you can do with that rooster. Clip its beak, glasses, yes they make chicken glasses or the axe. Coyotes, try lead. Keep Smilin
All I can say to the rooster is : “ Welcome to my world son, welcome to my world ! And of course, good luck!
chicken noodle soup sounds delicious tonight. No waiting to thaw.
Coyote breeding season is late January through March. So it’s more likely to see them during daylight hours.
I hope you had fun meeting and greeting at the Tractor Show. You are a good man doing things to make it easier for your wife Rebecca.
When I was 18-20 years old I didn't wait on the fork truck to load those 200lb tubs, now only 28, iv changed my mind greatly. I could still do it but the pain i feel at 28 wouldn't be, if I was smarter then lol
I watch alot of farm videos. If had to run them big gates all the time, I'd put a fat wheel and maybe a spring on the latch end of the gate bottom.
Just a suggestion ... if you turn your jon boat upside down when not in use, it won't fill up with water when it rains. Will make going out on the pond an easier experience. ❤
Hope you had a great trip and no unexpected events for Rebecca. 💕💕🎶🎶
Glad to hear that the pond is doing good! Hope you guys are staying warm! Keep up the good work!
We have ran up to 100 head of sheep , although we are down to about 40 and we have had bad years for coyotes and we put a old boom box type radio in the barn and have the corral lit up . But since we have put the radio in, we have had no problems. Our neighbors had one killed and other incidents, and they are only 100 yards or so from us . Vigilance is still needed but has worked for us . Don't turn it down too much , let them puppies think someone is around!!! Ps the animals enjoy our country music!!!😊
When you looked at the pond, wasn’t there some tadpoles swimming away from the shore. A little early for tadpoles? Great video, have a good time at the show
Really enjoying seeing your place grow
Thanks for sharing with us Evan, hope you meet a lot of your viewers at the Farm Show. May Rebecca have a safe and easy two days of chores all alone. You both stay safe and have a blessed weekend. Fred.
And the tubs come in handy too.
Mean rooster = stew meat.
Evan, you need to weld one of them cattle panels you placed on the gates, onto the bottom of the round bailer, to stop the straw/ hay from dropping on the ground so easy :D
“I told the neighbors we’d watch their nefarious rooster…by the way, I’ve got a farm show I’ve got to be at for the next few days.”😂
We had a rooster that did that too. My dad kicked him once, but the thing didn't learn and the next time he got it again. From that day forward that rooster walked around a little off kilter and never bothered anyone again. You guys are good shots, hope your are able to see a coyote when you have a weapon handy and there is nothing else in the way. Good luck.
Thanks Evan
You need a pair of great pyrenees to watch your herds. They are wonderful personalities and great protectors.

A donkey, llama or alpaca are as guard animals.
I was thinking Evan, you need muck buckets (poop) for the barn so you can scoop it and put it in there, then empty when it gets full. It will help keep the smell down. Then you pulled out 2 red buckets that look like them, and then I realized there is protein for the animals. LOL Save them use those buckets. You use the tractor to move them and empty them. Love Maya and her love for the camera. Have a great weekend!!
Evan Todd Family Farm seined there 1-1/2 pond this fall to get some of the catfish out. They weren't successful but in the net were the grass carp. A couple must have been 15-20 pounds. So yours should get even bigger in your lake.
Have a good time.
Evan it was really great to meet you at the tractor show
Can you aim a game cam on the barn to see if coyotes are checking it out?
So nice meeting you earlier today at the NFMS in Louisville. My son was too shy to talk to you but so excited all the way home.
Another channel that I watch is Outdoors With The Morgan's, and they make up fire starter out of wood chips and wax blended together and put into bags, that might be a good alternative for you Evan and Rebecca, so you don't have to split up kindling. Just a thought! I used to work for a Trade Show/Graphic Design company here in Louisville, and the NFMS and the fair were two of the busiest times of the year for us, with setting up/taking down displays, making new graphics and whatever else customers/vendors needed. Hope you enjoyed the show Evan!
Just found your channel this year and now I can’t stop watching!
This is the beginning of birthing season! They may be more on the hunt for food! I believe the roosters will pick on the hens if they don't mate with them!
You sure don t need a bad rooster around small kids, Rooster stew is good, Had sheep for years, yes they are funny, and they sure do flock together , Have a great meet and greet ,
Glad I got to meet you Thursday at the show. Enjoy watching your videos.
My local feed store was shocked I moved one of those mineral tubs onto a feed cart and took it in the store. I told them I would prefer they load it for me 😂. Unloading it at home without anything but my own power was a challenge but I managed to find a hill to back up to and was able to scoot it off my truck. I can't wait to get a tractor to meet my needs. I'll be in heaven. I drag bales with my truck and then roll them over by hand. I can't move them by hand anymore. At least not very far like I used to. You are making a lot of progress on your farm! I enjoy how you learn as you go and show your failures as much as your successes. We can all learn or relate to both sides in one way or another.
Hello Evan enjoyed your video. Have a good time tractor show.
😂❤ thanks for sharing!
We've been having an increase of coyote activity here, too. Just getting some of the chores set up for your wife is going to help, I'm sure. The pond really looks nice, I need to do work on my little pond, lost the bank a few years back and have a lot of trees to remove. Good luck on your trip, stay safe and have a good time and weekend!
Hey Evan I’ve found when you shut the gas off to a small engine and let the carb run out of gas, it significantly improves how much easier it starts next time and keeps the high ethanol fuel from gumming up the carb. Hopefully that makes sense. Enjoy your videos!
Livestock guardian dog or donkey will take care of the coyotes. Have fun at the tractor show.
Coyotes are bad in our area too (MS). Although they usually go after smaller stuff like barn kittens. They kept the population of barncats down severely for several years until we got all the adult female cats who survived fixed out of sheer pity. Oddly enough we usually don’t see adults go missing. But coyotes have been known to go after calves.
Evan if u spray a shot of starting fluid into the splitter she'll start 1 pull
Have a safe trip..
You can get hen 'saddles' which protect the hen's back.
Can’t wait to see your footage from the NFMS. I been watching a lot of videos about it even tho I was there on Wednesday. It amazes me how different eyes catch different stuff because every video catches something different. Equally Yoked Farm, and Rock Hill Farm have had some really good video of it but so far my favorite has come from peeks peak hobby homestead. He and his son sat out on a mission to find the biggest tractor at the show. It was really good.
JudithB Hope you have a good time!!! I need to make kindling too this coming week, down to the last bucket full! I did lose one of the new chicks, but the other 9 are doing well. The old hems have started laying last week too. The hens are cleaning the garden for awhile longer, I plan to start cleaning the garden in March and get the rabbit poo spread in the beds. I want to get the drip system set up this year. The hoop beds are doing well so far. I got a furnace repairman in finally, and new parts should go in next week. Meanwhile continuing the smaller repairs, cleaning and painting inside. Pre-spring exercise program!!! My LGd has been barking a lot at night, keeping the coyotes down in the valley, but we have a possuum eating feed and dog food.
We had a rooster that tried to attack me every time I went in the chicken house. He ended up on the end of a size 9 boot every day. He never learned. One day he caught me in a bad mood. No more rooster problems.
I know farmers that harvest the duck weed and mix it in with the pig feed and the pigs love it!

I think he's tried skimming a time or two. Didn't really work with the equipment he was using. Do the farmers u mentioned let it dry before feeding to hogs? Does removing the duckweed actually work to control how much is on the pond? Skimming seems like it could be a time consuming endeavor for a pond of his size. Thanks posting this idea. I'm off to the googles!🤷
Flipping over your boat would prevent it from filling up with rain water.
So glad the pond is looking back to its best. The place is just a totally different place to what you originally bought. Love the content have a great weekend
We received snow in Louisville Friday evening…bring your muck boots.
"With all these girls who are picking on him!" REAL LIFE!
Those protein tubs would be great as planters.
It was so nice to meet you(Indiana). Tell Rebecca that she was missed. Saw the video with Maya the pick pocket. It made me smile. Wonder if she’s going to train Ellie. 😟
You need to get a donkey, they are great pasture protectors. They will go after predators.
He's obviously the type of rooster you don't want around.
Nice you can go to the tractor show and hopefully meet a bunch of your viewers. And who knows what new equipment you will get to see. Glad you are preparing for lessening the solo load on Rebekah. But must be reassuring knowing you are leaving the animals in capable hands.
Dynamit is a nice name for your kindling box.😊
Sounds like a good time for a pot of chicken soup😄
Would very much like to meet you but the farm show was a bit too far. Maybe sometime when you might come to Wisconsin I could make that happen. Truly enjoy watching your videos. You are not afraid to make mistakes and admit it. That is refreshing to see, thanks.
Every time you say miya on your channel my dog goes crazy because it's her name
Great video! Hope you have a good time on your trip!
When your back best leave a gap just enough for a coyote squeeze into the barn but put a foot trap in front and inside the gap then you should be ok ,cover with straw ,and put two bits of tractor parts surrounding the trap inside so ya own animals don’t get hurt
Good luck at the farm and tractor show!
Safe trip Enjoy the show
The pekin duck has swimmers ear if u don't take it to the vet it will die or get worse my duck had the same thing an acted the same
This is coyote mating season. We live in Ft Worth. Last week in a Dallas public park 2 separate kids were bitten by a coyote. There were several coyotes in the park and it had to be closed. Of course the city are trapping the animals and relocating them. So be extra vigilant during this time of year.
Seems as if when making a trip from the woodshed to the house with the tractor, it would make sense to fill the free space in the bucket with firewood.
When I was a kid ( A long time ago , I'm 80 now ) we had a mean old rooster that would come after you and he came at my little brother and if he could have caught him it would not have been good for that rooster .
I live in Manhattan Illinois. Lots of coyote here also. Good target practice????
MATING SEASON FOR COYOTE FEBURARY AND MARCH
Hi Evan,Edward from Vermont
Kids need to carry a light badminton racket - it'll keep the rooster at bay 😊
Coyotes generally mate in February here in pa. That probably contributes to your neighbors spotting one at an unusual time of day. It may not even relate to your livestock.
thx
Saw ya at the show, didn't get a chance to say high though.
We have. 3 Anatolian shepards on our property. The coyotes avoid us .
Even, we don't see your dogs anymore, are they ok?
U should look for more water plants for your ducks
Hey 👋 😇 ❤️
You need to do a better job keeping the tall grass around the pond down. Those weeds help keep the duckweed alive thru the winter by insulating it from the cold. Go around with a weed burner and buzz those weed to the dirt.
nice
