    Great video Dave. I love the James, the history of the river is awesome. Down river a little ways is the oldest continual business in the US. It was started in the 1600's and is still going today. You can see some of the housing and the plantation from Hopewell. It's right on the river.

    My home river love fishing the James, and yes there are flatheads in the James just got to know where they are .

    Gotta love wing dams ! It's good to see ya out there ! Tennessee River is home but I've fished wing dams over some travels. Power plants are also great in winter.

    Dave, The Biggest Cats Right now(last 10 years) are coming out of the Roanoke River System on the Va/NC border. 143 lber and several topping 100 lbs. The NCWRC shocked one over 100 lbs in the river. they have pics of it

    Always cool to see an out of stater fishing some of my spots. You were really close to some good spots. Sidenote-there are lots of flatheads in the James. Hope you enjoyed your visit.

    Know the bass fisherman get you,but the bass fishing on lower James is so good,if I'm not mistaken the bass masters classic was held 3 yrs in a row there,not sure where you are,I'd be in Hopewell for some bigger fish

    Anytime you fish a new place you have to try different spots to see what's there. I'm sure there'll be a hole somewhere on that river holding monster's in. It may take a while to find it. But it's there. I'll beat on it. Take care, God Bless.

    I'm new to catfishing out of a boat and a new subscriber. I watched your video on catfish rods and have a question. Is there one good all around rod, not the best at one thing but good enough on all things? Fishing out of a boat that is. Bank fishing is a all together different. Thanks for your videos.

    Your consideration of the tide is correct. Target the current strength. Shad size recognition is the key observation. Big bait big fish. that size of shad or the presence of shad is endemic in the Chesapeake. Potomac rapppahaanok James. Eel don’t come off of the hook unless you want it to

    Hate to tell you,it's kinda on downlow,but the number of 60-80+ blues that are in lower James would blow your mind,the food source is second to none,because of the huge shad,crabs,herring that come in from the ocean

    It's not on the dl, lol Secrets been out for years. I prefer Chickamauga over watts bar. I think tennessee is a great fishery and plenty a fish to be caught but I'm honest enough to know the laws of averages. It's like playing the lottery. Would u prefer fishing a water with 10 50lb fish per mile, or 100?
