    Man that was the biggest striper I have ever seen. You sir are a master fisherman by not only catching something like that but taking the time and care to make sure it survived the encounter. The sport could surely use more people like you.

    I would like a vote here people to show Catfish Dave that we would like him to bring back his music in his videos. Like time’s past. Well, it’s Ben 10 days since we took this pole and I think out of a couple of polls takers and leaving their comments about too much music on KZread and all that but what I mean is if you go back to his older videos and when he’s cracking in a fish. He throws some music in there a little banjo or a guitar I just cool what is real in the fish and playing that music in the background I’m not talking about playing music the whole damn video. Hell no what is cranking on the fish that is so cool when he puts his music in it

    Striper aren’t as hearty as Largemouth or catfish. They spawn in my river twice a year, but California drought made that problematic recently. They are one of the better eating freshwater fish.

    Yep… there is a local,(Phoenix), KZreadr, that keeps fish out of the water interminably, while repeating the weight over and over again, every 10 seconds… “ yep, 6 lbs, 12 ounces, …yep, 6 lbs, 12 ounces, … yep, 6 lbs, 12 ounces, yep, 6 lbs, 12 ounces”. All the while, the fish is suffering… I stopped watching, and unsubscribed.

    I look at these pristine videos in gorgeous environments and say to my self why are we spending so much time trying to populate a barren red rocky planet with no oxygen or chance of farming. This beautiful planet is as good as it gets for us. We need to save this world rather than go elsewhere with less than ideal living conditions.

I think people tend to pass judgement on Catfish guys when in reality iam seeing better fish care and catch n release practices from this group over any of the others. Heck of a day my man and great job caring for those prized specimens. Let em go let em grow

    Bass tournament fisherman are the worse. They'll murder you if you dare keep a bass to eat, but anyone that has walked the banks after a big tournament has no doubt seen the dozens of dead bass "released" after weigh in, after being in a live well all day, all so some prick can win some paper currency. Absolutely shameful. Im sure its the asian carp ruining the bass populations, nothing to do with pulling hundreds if not thousands of spawning fish every spring off their beds.

  • @davewylie654

    @davewylie654

    Жыл бұрын

    @whiteyfisk9769 You know there was a time I would have agreed with you but you obviously are not keeping up on it. You are still correct at club level etc but the bigger tours have gone to a weighmaster in the boat so fish gets weighed and released immediately which is awesome and I would say needs to be done with all fishing tourneys period. Now as far as just being general dickheads the BASS guys are king. Bunch of primadonnas riding around in 100k rigs and claiming to own the water damn near when tourney fishing. Catfish guys nope!!! Love the success and the fact a kid fishing from the bank has a legit chance of winning a derby

    From watching your show I have learned so much. I used to trot line fish 30-40 years ago. I used suspend my lines 6-8 feet below the surface, only put them out at night and used ivory soap, hot dogs, fiddle worms, muscles, etc and had skipjacks everywhere but didn’t use them. Your method contradicts everything I did and now I realize I worked myself to death and didn’t catch a lot but could have if I did what you do on your show. It’s great you take such care in releasing those stripers. Live to fight another day👍

    I have been fishing for more than 50 years and I had always believed the larger the better was the goal. But I have softened on that belief over time. The big fish are the old fish and usually the breeders that keep the stock going. When we hook them and bring them to the surface with the usual amount of handling and hook removal we are sending them back with significant damage and often a slow death. I no longer put large hooks and bait in the water hoping to catch that elusive big one. In fact I no longer catch unless the bait is small and the hook is barbless. Only catch and release. I will catch the odd large one even with small hook and bait but I try to keep the damage and handling as quick as possible.

    Oh Yeaahhh! That was fun just watching! Handling cut bait and eating with the same hands. A true fisherman. I've caught a few blues, but now I am back in Missouri and could use some coaching on how a Flathead acts as opposed to a Blue. I am surprised you caught one, though, I've always thought Flatheads were nocturnal. One thing I do know: Dave is the CLEANEST catfisherman I've ever seen. Most of us get dirty pretty quickly. BTW, we would have liked to have seen the "rough" fish you caught. What kind of carp do you have there? Big gold reverted Koi? Quillback? Any Gar? Big Buffalo are not only large muscle work, they look really cool. Big Drum? Folks get off on their croaking. White Perch? Do you have those? The greatest thing about tightlining a nightcrawler in Missouri? A LOT more species in one day.
