I live in McKean county and I have a creek behind my house that has native trout in. I've caught them over 18" there. I walk the creek in the spring to check the creek for good spots because the creek changes every year because of flooding. There used to be a good little hiding spot for the trout that is inside of a hollow tree that is laying in the creek long wise and it goes up inside the creek bank. The end of the log is down below the surface of the bedrock and surrounded by other logs. But if you slowly work your way up to the log and look down you could see the trout sitting inside the log. But after checking the creek this year I discovered the flood water had filled it the hollow log with rocks. I'm gonna try to remove the rock and restore the spot.

I saw on another video something about you breaking a pole while getting it out of vehicle and you liked it so much you do it on purpose now. Would you be willing to explain that a little bit. The red rod in this video looks very small and ultralite. I’m using 4’6” vintage Daiwa’s now. Mini-mites and I love them. Just curious what you were using here and if I’m right that it was you breaking the rod ha. Also what streamers are you using? I see the mepps Aglia but not sure of the streamers. Thanks man. Another great video.

Lol…. Yeah man I slammed my tip of my Berkley Cherrywood in the door breaking off the front section of it & from that point forward I’d break that section off of a brand new rod because I got used to the length reduction & how much better it worked for me & most importantly how much more accurate I was at casting….. all from an accident lol….. The streamers are a homemade pattern that my buddy makes for me, he doesn’t really like giving information out about those but they are 1/4oz. 👌👍 Appreciate the love too man👌🤙😁🥰

Hey no worries, I’m new to streamers so I wouldn’t know the first thing about it anyway ha. Is it like a wolly bugger? I thought that was you with the rod, what length do ya do then? This creek really won’t allow for a very long pole it doesn’t look like. Thanks for the reply

Wow, impressive. Expecting maybe 16-18" fish max and then ..monsters... for spinners, when I've used them, I always replace the treble with a single hook with a larger 'bite', I land more and less damage to the fish. New Subscriber🙂

There must be an abundance of food in those cold waters. Where are you fishing? At least what state are you in. But make no mistake about it. I catch fish to EAT THEM! I love the taste of freshly caught fish of various species. Walleye is my favorite.
@chasingthewildwithdustyrho2620
20 күн бұрын
Yeah most of the streams I fish have one or multiple beaver dams in them, which do very good at producing big fish as in they are loaded with small bait fish which these bigger fish just thrive on and become giant…..then when these beaver dams break out these fish have to go someplace! 👌🤙😁 I am in total agreement, there is no better freshwater fish to eat than a walleye…… Crappie, perch and bluegill are definitely a close second and I do also enjoy catfish, but I like to throw these big trout back so I can build a history with them! 🤙😁👌🎣

Hey, Dusty, I am new to this. Would you explain how to tell the difference between the males and females?
@chasingthewildwithdustyrho2620
2 ай бұрын
Males have typically a bigger longer head with a hooked bottom jaw once they get real big or the technical term “Kype”…… where as the females have a shorter more rounded head and mouth! The big males will typically look more aggressive, like a alligator, musky or pike when they get 20+ inches! 👌
@matthewmcdermit8744
2 ай бұрын
@chasingthewildwithdustyrho2620 , cool! Thank you! . . . Yeah, earlier, I caught myself laughing to myself: while most of us are trying to identify the species, Dusty is identifying the gender of the fish. I'm like, "What the heck?" 😆 Although I will catch and release most of the time, I would like to catch a nice meal once in a while. With that said, releasing the large females would seem to be the most vital -- but, of course, releasing some males too.
@matthewmcdermit8744

@chasingthewildwithdustyrho2620 , also, in one of your videos, you had mentioned that come July when the water temperatures rise to 60 or 65° F you stop fishing. Would you expound on that? . . . What are some of these unwritten rules of (trout) fishing? What are some of the ethics?
@chasingthewildwithdustyrho2620
Ай бұрын
@@matthewmcdermit8744 well essentially when the water temps get 65 degrees or above it’s unsafe to catch & release trout….. they basically have a super hard time recovering from a fight & are at grave risk of dying so it’s best to just NOT fish at all under those warmer water conditions! 👌

It’s So funny how some people think apparently that taking photos of fish is going to make them spontaneously explode & most certainly die…..🤦♂️🤷♂️ I take pride in my big fish catches & certainly have respect for these fish but do also like to take a good photo of the big ones, seems like out of 4 or 5 photos you only get one that’s really good, but holding them out of the water for a few seconds per photo then putting them back in the water doesn’t hurt them one bit…. The only time this could ever even be a possibility is if the fish was hooked deep & bleeding or the water temps were north of 65° & I don’t fish when it’s that warm & I try not to even take them out of the water if they’re hooked bad ensuring a quick release! But thank you for the compliment! 👌

There must be an abundance of food in those cold waters. Where are you fishing? At least what state are you in. But make no mistake about it. I catch fish to EAT THEM! I love the taste of freshly caught fish of various species. Walleye is my favorite.

@chasingthewildwithdustyrho2620

Males have typically a bigger longer head with a hooked bottom jaw once they get real big or the technical term “Kype”…… where as the females have a shorter more rounded head and mouth! The big males will typically look more aggressive, like a alligator, musky or pike when they get 20+ inches! 👌
