Catching Limits on the Clark Fork of the Stanislaus River

Спорт

The past few weeks I've been spending some time up on the Clark Fork of the Stanislaus River fishing for Trout. Prior to this trip I hadn't been catching limits on the Clark Fork but I had been having a blast fishing it with my buddy Matt and with my kids. This trip I took a little more serious. My goal was to catch a limit on the Clark Fork and put some protein in the freezer.
I tend to release the vast majority of the fish I catch, probably over 99%, but I do enjoy eating my catch as well. Throwing back stocked rainbows is like throwing away a Big Mac after you already purchased it, and its nice to have some tasty fish to eat.

I get the sentiment but these fish were stocked fish. If they were wild fish I'd definitely be releasing them.

Cool video! I live up here and wanted to show family the river to have them come join and yes you did mention the sad truth that there are a lot of people that come up here. You do have to do a lot of walking to get away! Thanks for your video!

I've used a technique here recently, that I've seen you do in the past, of floating a fly with a clear bobber and it has been working decent. Seems like these streams would be perfect for that style.

Yeah I had the gear with me. I didn't see the fish feeding much on the top and I was having luck with the spoon but If that hadn't been the case that would have been an option.

You stated in your video "Its a miracle that there's any fish left in this place" and your right. Fishing with barbed hooks, keeping the fish you catch, it is a miracle......CATCH & RELEASE!

Questions? You bet I’ve got questions. Please talk about your tackle for this sort of trout fishing. Line? Length, power and action of the rod? You are obviously using a spoon but what about small Mepp’s or Panther Martin’s? I will be moving to area with loads of opportunities for trout and salmon fishing, and I will be completely out of my element. Bass, pike, walleye, and even muskie...these I understand a bit. Trout? He’s a helluva baseball player but beyond that, I’m lost. Cheers!

So for trout that size and in a small stream I'd fish 8-10lb Flourocarbon. I use Sunline FC Sniper Flouro most of the time. Larger trout i use 12-15ln line. I'm actually using a "bass rod" in this video... Here's a link to a review I did on the rod. kzread.info/dash/bejne/hH91lcR9gabKoqQ.html As far as lures go, I've got a lot of confidence in the spoon game. With that said inline spinners of all sorts would work alright as well. Trout are fun, and tasty. Sometimes they are dumb like these stockers and sometimes they are the pickiest, hardest to trick fish you'll come across.

Families dont get when a fisherman is fishing a hole , move to the next hole to swim or just ask the fisherman how long he plans on being there we all need to communicate with each other , just dont plop down and spoiling the moment for all , because I am at an age I will be rude as you have been to me in front your family or friends if you have NO consideration for others .
