What a beautiful place.
A Thank you for sharing another enjoyable outing TA. I go to my brothers in Couer d'Alene for a month every year (late Aug-Sept this year)and we camp and fish the "panhandle" specifically the upper Cd'A and St. Jo Rivers. He strictly fly fishes and I use a spinning reel with a four ft. rod and 4# test line ultralight with worms. I consistently catch 18-22" Cutts and he rarely catches anything over 16". I bought a 17.7' rod and this year I'm going to Keiryu fish with streamers and live bait. There's plenty of room to swing it around on those rivers and get some distance when needed. Those were some nice size fish you caught this week. That'll spoil ya! Griff

I see the drawback of Tenkarara fishing; not being able to reel the fish in when using a line substantially longer than the rod. Certainly not to discourage Tenkarara fishing! Beautiful lake! Great video! Thanks!
It really is amazing how someone could be in ice cold water and not catch a fish and almost freeze to death but when the fish start biting the cold just seems to go away it used to be that way when I was a boy duck hunting,rain cold wind shivering but when those Ducks came over the top everything warmed up thanks for the great video.

Another fantastic video, Tristan! I do a lot of my tenkara fishing in alpine lakes, so it was great to see you in such a beautiful spot. I'm curious what you'd pack in if you were to wade that area. I've found that stuffing my waders in my daypack and clipping a pair of Off-Road Crocs to the outside as wading boots works great for most scenarios. Thanks for continuing to share your adventures. Fish On! ;)

I'd hike up in my lightweight wading shoes (SoftScience Terrafins) and roll up my hip waders and strap them to the outside of my backpack.
I have watched some of these videos of yours lately. It seems like a great minimalist way to fly fish, just looks like a pain to land them at times.

The packraft is inoperable at the moment!
Dude,you should have use a long telescopic handled net.
I'm looking for the Aventik IM12 NANO 9ft to 10ft on Amazon. I cannot find the one you had.
How long of a line do you use? I’d use a 15 foot line and a minimum of 5 feet of tippet so you can get out further. When I Tenkara fish with a longer line, I will also handline the fish in if I can, even if it means pulling them across things like the floating islands
@TenkaraAddict
4 жыл бұрын
That info is always in the video description. I used a 13 foot line and 3 or 4 feet of tippet. But line length wasn't really an issue. I would have just put a longer line on if I'd needed to. And yeah, I didn't want to pull the fish across the floating islands. That was the main problem once I found open water that was close enough to shore.
Listened with headphones. Don't you love it when the tension on the line of a big fish makes the line sing like a bowed violin string as it's pulled through the water?

@braydonsmedley5652

Most cutthroat are wild in the high mountain stuff. That doesnt necessarily hold true in all places but typical rule of thumb is that cutthroat in the high mountains are wild
You must have frozen your nads off wet wading in water that cold! Add snow showers and wind to boot...brrrrrr 🥶 Do you have light weight stocking foot waders? Also, there’s a road...why a 3 mile hike in?
@TenkaraAddict
4 жыл бұрын
The road is only for sub-50-inch vehicles (i.e., ATVs, etc.). Regular vehicles aren't allowed, and I don't have an ATV, etc. And yes, my hands were cold. I have stocking foot hip waders but didn't think I'd need them. I rarely do for ponds/lakes.

just found your channel. do you always prefer level line to a furled line?
@TenkaraAddict
4 жыл бұрын
Yes. I know a lot of people feel that furled lines cast better, but I like the feel of level lines more. And furled lines are a huge pain in the butt when they get stuck in a tree. Level lines are much easier to free and get less tangled up in the foliage.
