Thanks for watching! Here's the rod amzn.to/3NCHYCD, and here are the hooded long-sleeve shirts I'm always wearing in the videos amzn.to/3GR8bJZ. I hope you guys have a great Christmas! -Tristan

Thank you for the link. I book-marked it for now, hoping your video featuring the rod comes up sooner than later. 😉 I'm thinking it will make a nice backup rod for an on the stream carry rod, being made with fiberglass. Merry Christmas!

Bought a beginner Tenkara. I RV a lot. Nothing is worse than traveling, seeing a creek and not having a fly setup
The trouble with fishing creeks like this is it is hard to quit, there’s always another pool beckoning just around the bend

The trick is to bring a limited number of flies and just fish until you lose them all in the bushes (yes, I do tend to get hung up quite often)

Small creeks May be my favorite fishing. They have been pounded with fisherman
I’ve been fly fishing + tying for 67 years ( rod n reel) ( teaching both also for many years) . About 6 years ago I purchased a Tenkara rod from T. USA - its still Dry. I don’t know what hit me but about 2 months ago I got this burn to try tenkara and have added 5 more rods over the Holidays. Come April ( here in Maine) I will start fishing w/ Tenkara. It looks like great fun - besides at 75 I need to expand my horizons ( Quickly). The main purpose of this comment is to let you know that your work is by far the “Absolute Best” I’ve found. Non Pretentious, straight forward Outstanding work. 👍 👍 Two thumbs WAY up - you make your videos FUN without the Ego! No Excessive fish handling - again usually ego driven - just FUN with a Healthy dose of respect and Humility for the environment and the creatures that inhabit it. Your videos are fun to watch. I doubt that you realize what you are really bringing to people when you post them - believe me its TREMENDOUS. I ‘ve turned many of my Veteran ( military) friends on to the videos and they all agree that they are FUN to watch and they want to try Tenkara ( go back to the simplicity of fishing flies). At their ages. I also today tuned into your RVing vids ( fish springsUT, NV) and Completely agree with your assessment of the Window Rock view and what it represents to you. That attitude is what makes your work so Special - don’t let Anybody take that away. All the Best to you, your parents, wife and fuzzy dog - looking forward to more Outstanding work from you in the ‘24. Happy New Year!!! Best regards Robert
I'm glad to hear positive feedback on this rod. I have the same on arriving tomorrow. It will be my first Tenkara style rod.
Awesome video! Your videos are the reason I took up tenkara. We've had several years of drought and most of the lakes we fish have become stagnant. You inspired me to look at the small streams in my area and it's surprising how many of them hold fish. Thank you.
What a pleasure to wake up on a Saturday morning and watch this video. Tiny Creek, large fish.

This is awesome. Been following your other channel but now this! I fish the Midwest all the time. I can't believe in the middle of a desert you are catching big Brownies! Fishing is great. Thank you for this!
A really nice, enjoyable video. I sure miss being able to go out fishing. I have wonderful memories of fishing with my dad and then my children. Thanks, Tristan, and Merry Christmas 🎅 🎄
Really liked your description of small creek and using a smaller rod. I lived in northern VA for a while and although I didn’t fish the Appalachian creeks as much as I desired, I built a little 7.5’ 3 wt fly rod that I loved. You brought back some fun memories. Merry Christmas.
Tristan, your videos just rock !! Both channels ! Awesome content, lovely camera work, just awesome stuff. Because of you, I now have a lot of tenkara rods, and my fly and spinning gear is collecting dust ! I just started making my own furled lines out of fluorocarbon, and I've found they cast super easy with no effort at all. Would love to Pay it back , if you would like a couple, just let me know, glad to twist a few up for ya to try ? Shoot me a message if ya want, I use these for bass and carp at my local lakes, but with lighter line would be great for steams as well. Again, thanks so much for the endless hours of enjoyment you give us all!! You Rock !!!!
Oh, what a lovely little stream! And I think you’ve come up with an excellent metric for tenkara rods - the “disappears” standard. Thank you for this very enjoyable video.

An enjoyable watch. Reminds me of that time....:) Thanks
Thanks for the video,s they r cool
Great family story
Tristan if I stumbled on that stream I’d stay for days, not an hour. What a super video, as always.
This creek was extremely productive. Great find.
Love the show, look forward every week to new adventure, keep your line wet thank you.
5:24 good day of fishing
Great video! My grandpa taught me fly fishing in Cascades of Washington, caught lots of trout with him when I was little.
Bought one of those Aventik rods for my niece for Christmas. Really looking forward to teaching her how to use it
Hello. My wife and I have been watching your SUV RVing and Tenkara Addict channels recently. We love the content! We are planning our first trip real trip to the mountain west to do day hikes in the Wind River Range the first week of September. I have fished in the past but never with flies before. After watching your videos, I bought a Tenkara rod for the trip and have been practice casting here in my yard in Ohio. :) We found your SUV RVing channel by looking for bike trail videos (and found the one you did in SD). FWIW - We rode the Great Allegheny Passage (GAP) Trail in PA last October. i think you would really like that if you haven't done it already. You can go all the way from Washington DC to Pittsburgh and camp along the way. We haven't seen all your videos yet so maybe you've done it already. In any case, we just wanted to say thanks and we are looking forward to our Wyoming trip and trying to have some of those hiking/fishing experiences first hand. Best wishes for your future adventures - DS from Ohio.
Merry Christmas, great videos all year thx for the adventures Tristan 🎣
Beautiful little creek and nice browns. I don't think I'd have the self control to stop after an hour and 15 fish. Fantastic.

Stunning stream and more stunning fish .
Great fishing. Enjoyed your assessments of the equipment. Keep it up.
That look like a fun creek to fish with nice fish too. Good video
Another awesome video well done some really nice fish
Fun video. Love Utah streams. Merry Christmas, Tristan!
Not easy access but obviously great habitat for fish and other wildlife. Well done for getting in there and encountering some nice fish 👍
This will be my first tenkara rod! $19.99 and 10% off of that price! If you didn't posted this video I would not have known about it! Thank you!
Amazing trout in that skinny stream! Good job.
Nice little creek. I think your estimations of the lengths of those fish are a little on the ambitious side though. 😄
That's just amazing!

Looks like some of our Nevada creeks loaded with brookies no limit
Blue lining ya never know....thanks Tristan!
Great fish! I love watching your videos. So relaxing. What do you think about the Tenkara Rod Co. Teton Zoom? I have this funny little feeling Santa left one under the tree for me and I can hardly wait to go fishing with a Tenkara rod this summer.
The biggest trout I've ever caught in my life were in tiny little Alaska creeks like that. Barely 2-4 feet wide and between 1-3 feet deep. I once hooked a 24 inch rainbow that snapped my fly off, and a week later i returned and caught the same trout with my fly still stuck in its lip. I'd carry a 5 foot 2 piece ultralight spin rod with a micro spin reel with 6 pound line and a 4 pound leader drifting flies on micro bobbers. Half the time the fish would swallow the bobbers.
Great video! Merry Christmas to you and yours.

Excellent casting skills i must say , ive been looking into tenkara fishing to access a few little streams around where i live in the UK an youve just inspired me to take the plunge . Earned a sub from me brother merry Christmas!
One thing I have noticed is that you have quite a collection of rods. Some are what you might expect, nice expensive rods, but there a quite a few cheap not so nice rods. I very much liked your explanation of a "good" rod. I've personally never been able to afford a nice rod because of the expense. I recently bought a nissin rod which casts great, but I found that if I were to get a small bass on the line I'm not sure it could handle it without breaking a section. Makes me wonder if I am looking at rods the wrong way. I appreciate your stuff and watch it every chance I get. Thanks.
Awesome creek full of fish ! Plus you have it all to yourself . Been looking at that yellow rod , should have grabbed it when it was on sale for 40 bucks , now its 60 . Still think I'm gonna grab it . I have their 10'8" rod and really like it . Super light weight , but , I really like soft , slow fiberglass rods so that yellow rod is callin me . I want the Foxfire but don't think I can afford it . Thoroughly enjoy the videos , I'm going to watch this one again then check out the video on your other channel 😎👍👍
I have the exact same 9ft yellow fiberglass rod. Very slow action just like I wanted. Makes it a versatile rod for both micro fishing small pools and getting easy drag free drifts in fast moving water.

Looking forward to that video@@TenkaraAddict . I'd love to grab a couple affordable creek rods to have for bike fishing, back ups, and loaners.
I bought a couple of Goture tenkara-ish rods from Temu with my first order from them; about $8 each, 2.7m and 3.6m. The 3.6 is rather heavy for casting and I either use two hands or choke up on it. The shorter one is comfortable to use one hand and casts fine. The largest fish I hooked on the 3.6 was a 10” channel cat on a jig streamer, and on the 2.7 an 9” lm bass. Both in ponds. Can’t say I would necessarily recommend them, but they are getting me into tenkara on the cheap.
Some dogs for that size stream, seems like there thriving in that water👍
I go to second hand stores and I get rods like lamaglass and shamano n other great rods for a few dollars and reels along with all kinds of gear Merry Christmas
Maravilhoso. wonderful.
I have the 9 ft. Aventik Nano rod and love it more than than a couple of more expensive rods that I own.
Hey man! Is your online shop gonna open up anytime soon?? I just got my first vice and want to support you by buying my tying supplies through you. Love your videos and look forward to hearing from you soon!
Nice video as usual 🤙🏼 Can I please have some more information about the wading gear you are using? Greets from Belgium 🇧🇪 Enjoy the holidays!
Those were nice fish for that little creek. Could there be a lake or reservoir above you providing the larger fish and more food? Maybe a larger beaver pond? I used to live in Utah but I do not recognize the area you are in.
That's a loaded little creek wow
I'd love to grab that rod in the blue, but it looks like the Amazon link is for a 7' blue. I guess I could get green, but i'm pretty picky about how I spend my $20:😁
Really nice fish! And an appropriate moment of silence after your mention of your dad.

I didn't even realize that I did that!
The places I fished did have both wild and stocked fish and I used to take stockies, however I found the days were more pleasant when I stopped bothering and returned everything. Have you ever thought of checking the pH of the waters? Usually a higher pH means more insect life and thus bigger fish.
@TenkaraAddict
7 ай бұрын
No, I haven't thought of that. Maybe I should... Thanks for watching!
Just want to make sure but I am 100 percent sure that the first fish you caught is not a brown trout it is a brook trout. I use those rods in MT creek fishing a lot , I’ve done it 46 years with my father. I love them and yes it’s addicting
@captblackbart7197

That is 100% a brownie and not a brook.
What a day to be on the creek. Nicely done, sir. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

OK - just ordered that rod! where did you get your net? I like the stiff material and fine mesh.
Small creeks with wild fish beat large waters with tons of guys on them any day of the week.
u get what u pade ford
Nice little creek. Looking at the type of stream side vegetation I'm betting that creek is almost unfishable in late Spring until late Fall. I have my share of those, only fish them in late Fall and Winter. That rod seems like a really nice tight stream rod, looks like it sets the hook with a short stroke and manages the larger fish nicely, quick to net. Is the yellow rod overly soft for a small stream; can you post a link to the yellow rod? I like the color - LOL
@TenkaraAddict
7 ай бұрын
You might be right. It would have been a pain to fish if all those trees and bushes were at their peak. I haven't posted the video of the yellow rod yet, but it's a good rod. Better than the one from this video. Here's the Amazon link: amzn.to/41yuL3A. It's quite a bit more expensive, though. And no, it's not overly soft for a small stream.
How many out of state fishing licenses do you need to buy?
Did you barbless hooks? Not a statement, just curious
What's the elevation? Seems like less cold area, sometimes grows bigger fish, or warm spring feeds.
Have you ever fished a streamer?
Can you partially collapse a 12’ tenkara rod to make it, say an 8’ total rod length for tight areas? Or do you need a separate 8’ and 12’ length for this.
Did you use the same fly through out your session?
Hi Tristan, nice creek and beautiful brown trouts (trote fario, as we call them in Italy). Today i had the opportunity to try tenkara fishing with my new Goture 3.60 and its kit. I have a question, hope you can help me. I noticed the flurred line is sinking, not floating, so how do you spot it in the middle of the flowing water? The yellowish colour jast desappear under the surface, and the line is quite thin.. Do i need polarized glasses (which i don't like very much)? Does it get any better with level lines? I have two, 3 and 3.5 size, pink colour fluorocarbon. Do you recommend it? Thanks for you help!
@TenkaraAddict
7 ай бұрын
Yes, furled line sinks, as does level line. The key, regardless of what line you use, is to keep the rod tip up so that you keep the line off the water. Ideally, you want only the tippet in/touching the water. As the fly drifts back to you down the stream, lift the rod tip to keep that line off the water. Does that help?

Today I couldn't properly fish upstream due to the place i fished (medium size river and from the bank) , but when fishing a real trout stream I'll do 👍 thanks
Sure looks like UT...
The video should be called how to collect 1000 ticks
Not many people fishing it
Please tell me where that creek is! I promise not to share it with anyone.
I grew up on lake Washington in Seattle and befor the destruction of the area in the 60s the fishing was world class in the lake huge salmon and every other kind of fish and cray fish up to 10 inches but now they put sewage plants pumping into the lake and Puget sound and it's so toxic I don't fish in the waters any more
If you were hungry, and if you liked fish, you would have been well fed.
