Hey, John. It never ceases to amaze me that even though the coast of northern New England here in the States LOOKS very similar to that of Cornwall and its adjacent waters, you have FAR more species of groundfish that we do. I know that the Gulf Stream is closer to you, and that's probably why. In any event, I'm envious-but very glad I can vicariously experience the "grab-bag" fishing sessions that you so generously share with us. Best, Chris (Maine, USA)

Bread and butter fishing, love it, especially in warmer weather, sitting in the pilot seat two rods out with two baited hooks at anchor. Enjoyed that John. Cheers pal.

Hi John. I was born in Flushing as was my father, mum was born in Mylor. Fished my own little boat out of Pill Creek. Still have a boat but now fishing out of Mudeford. Watching your videos reminds me of good times in Carrick Roads and out a bit. Allowed to catch bass in those days drifting live prawns under the trees up the Fal. Keep feeding my nostalgia mate.

Morning bud.
Aloha from Hawai'i John. Question: Are you fishing the north coast, or south coast of Cornwall? I am surprised at how calm the water is especially during winter. Here in Hawai'i we get monster swells rolling in from winter storms off the Aleutian Islands, Alaska. Are you between storms, or does Scotland block the swells? We have wrasse here too, and besides the color difference they are identical in shape. Does anyone there eat coalies, or pouting? They resemble cods and pollock, but not so much in eating quality? Mackerel one of my favorite fish to eat, though I have to buy them frozen, as they are not native to our warm waters. I am a longtime subscriber to your "The Fish Locker" channel, so I will see you there. Keep up the good work. 😁🤙

Our Coalie are the same as your Atlantic Pollock. Here we get some protection from the westerly swells from the land orientation. Winter time it is all about choosing periods between the poor weather.
Lovely Pouting!

Blimey John, as I said before, that flat table on the back of your boat seems to be the way forward for just about everything - guess what I shall be doing this weekend?

Great content! Love to see you bring the family to my part of the world the west coast of the US and do some salmon/steelhead fishing. Addicted fishing could probably show you around.

Most of my sessions are like these, but more frantic on a single hook with a small popup float next to the hook which seems to attract bream and even mackerel too, seems strange to catch mackerel on lugworm, guess it must be the popup ? I cannot go out far as I only have a Jonny Boats Bass 100, but where I am trawlers are not allowed within 2.5miles of the shore to help with the regrowth of the kelp beds. Just have to dodge the gill nets left out in the Bass season.

Hey,John! I have never heard anyone saying that they’ve accidentally hoked into a Dolphin. Have you ever hooked a dolphin?

Certainly are.
I have been wanting to ask a question, what is the difference between a Conger eel and the Moray eel here in Australia? My opinion on both is they are horrible. I don’t like eels no matter what they are.
Is this a new channel Bro ? Thanks !

Weirdly, I have never caught a cuckoo wrasse. I am 51 years old, and have fished Cornwall and Devon extensively as well as the south coast in general, and other UK locations for 40 years, and I have caught every British species of wrasses, except for the cuckoo wrasse. None. Zero. Zilch. Nada.

Great video John....is it true that female cuckoo wrasse can change sex if there's not enough males in there territory?
