In this video, we'll take a look at the fugitive conman, Nicholas Rossi. After watching this video, you'll be able to understand his techniques, and you'll be able to protect yourself from similar scammers!
Rossi, who faked his own death to evade justice, was branded 'dishonest and deceitful' as court ruled in favour of extradition. After months of denials and delays in this long running extradition case, finally a decision.  From the man at the centre of this bizarre case, there was one last parting shot. Suspect Nicholas Rossi claimed to be too unwell to come to court to hear the sheriff’s decision. The 35-year-old did appear via video link from Saughton Prison and slumped over in his wheelchair, he hid his face from the camera. “Are you Nicholas Rossi? Also known as Arthur Knight? “ asked the clerk. There was no reply. When his lawyer then tried to have his client excused, in an angry outburst Rossi claimed he had been brought before the court by “physical force” and called Sheriff Norman McFadyen “a disgrace to justice.” The video connection was cut.
Sheriff McFadyen went on to conclude there is no legal barrier to extradition. Rossi, he said, “was as dishonest and deceitful as he is evasive and manipulative.“

I read up a little on this case. Nicholas’ death was reported to the press by his ‘widow’ Louise. She refused to produce a death certificate and claimed that Nicholas was cremated and his ashes scattered at sea. Voice comparisons were analyzed between the ‘widow’ Louise and the current wife Miranda Louisa Knight and were deemed to be a match. So Scott, you were probably right in thinking that giganta wife helped Billy Bunting fake it all.

@cynthiakonell3279 I'm a retired ICU RN and I was going to make nearly the same comment as you did! Kudos to us medical people. The oxygen delivery mask he's using is called a non-rebreather mask and is used for extremely severe breathing problems in a hospital ONLY. It is capable of delivering 100% oxygen.People aren't discharged from hospital using this type of apparatus , unless perhaps they are heading directly to hospice care, Receiving 100% oxygen for a prolonged time is damaging to the lungs: regular room air is only 21% oxygen. So why is he using this non-rebreather mask? Most patients are discharged from hospital only after they've been able to use a nasal cannula. It seemed fake to me from the beginning. And, OF COURSE, he could have removed the mask for a bit in order to talk! Can't tell you how many patients I've had that pulled off their masks in order to tell me something. This, and most of his unintelligible speech made it almost

And my school would have a name, and my employers would have names, and the clients/projects I'd worked on would have names, and my family members would have names, and the houses I'd lived in during my life would have addresses. And all those things would have dates too. I would flood people with hard details that they could go check on, and I would tell them to check them out - "Just go check it". I wouldn't get involved in a discussion of someone I was being mixed up with or try to argue I wasn't that person, the facts would speak for themselves. If I were being confused with another person who was a rapist, I wouldn't get my wife to say I'm not the sort of person to rape people, I would just prove that I am not that individual. I got a money-laundering query from a bank recently, as a large international payment had been made into the account and the funds immediately sent on to a third country. I didn't waste one word arguing I wasn't laundering money. Instead I supplied them with documentation showing my relationship with the payer, and documentation showing where that money went and what it was ultimately used for. It's quite likely I could have been angered by the query, in which case I still wouldn't have argued the case, I would have supplied the documentation but made rude, sarcastic comments implying the people making the query were idiots. If one is willing to engage in an intellectual argument about a clear-cut factual matter, that's a pretty strong signal.

I worked with people who were disabled. She said he can’t bear weight. However, the way she transferred him to his chair was a weight bearing transfer. If he couldn’t bear weight she would have to lift him so his feet weren’t being used as a pivot point. Also rebreathers are for emt or hospital use. I wonder where he even got that thing? Stolen from an emergency room? Why does he have to bear weight and remove the mask to remove a jacket and a button down shirt?

@rosslogan4154 You're wrong. We never say, "Walk down the pavement." We say "Walk down the road" or "Walk down the street" Americans may say, "Walk down the sidewalk," and whilst English people say "pavement" instead of "sidewalk," We never say, "Walk down the pavement." It doesn't make sense. We could "walk on the pavement," but we don't walk down it directionally. We'd only say "Walk on" if we were describing where we were, not where we were going. "I was walking on the pavement when this bike came by and nearly knocked me in the road!" It's relative to "not the road." He thought he was being clever by using "pavement," but he applied it incorrectly as he tried to use it in an American way.

You're right, that means he has strong legs which indicates standing tolerance. Also, he has bought the wheelchair. He wouldn't get that on the state, because it's highly unlikely he'd be assessed as needing one. If he was suitably for it, he'd also be prescribed a transfer aids. A carer wouldn't be expected to lift him because she would get injured. He also doesn't explain why his breathing problems would affect his mobility in such a significant way. I imagine he'd be receiving physio, but he doesn't mention any ongoing treatment. Bizarre that he thinks this is believable!

It's the mask that gets me - here's my thoughts on the mask as a Paramedic of 14 years. The mask he is wearing is a 'Non-Rebreather' and is used for high flow oxygen - the mask needs to be used at 10L/min - 15L/min in order to be effective (some say 12L/min is the minimum but lets be generous here). This mask is used in cases where there is severe acute respiratory distress, and is only used short term. It is NOT used for long term use and is not used for ongoing oxygen therapy. Someone with severe respiratory distress does not look like this guy - they talk in single words or very very short phrases, their shoulders are often rounded forward and they can be leaning forward in a tripod position, they're often pale, clammy, and they look like they are in distress - imagine how you'd feel if you weren't able to breathe properly - they look like they're scared. Also, if he has a chronic respiratory condition, he wouldn't be treated with such high flow oxygen - it's too risky. High flow supplemental oxygen in chronic respiratory patients can override their hypoxic drive (their trigger for their body to go 'oh that's right, I need to breathe'), and cause complete respiratory failure. And, if that's not enough, you can see the fogging inside the mask from his breath, which doesn't happen when the oxygen is turned up high enough for the mask. If the oxygen isn't high enough for the mask then it's not effective and he is breathing in his own carbon dioxide. So, if by some chance he does have a chronic respiratory condition, AND he does require high flow O2, and had a rogue doctor who put him on ridiculously high O2 therapy, and his mask is fogging like this... he would have been unconscious before the interview was over. Plus, oxygen at 10L/min - 15L/min is loud coming through the mask. You would be able to hear it.

Who refers to a period of at most 4.5 years, or a marriage of at most 3.5 years as "so many years"? And how many people have been married to somebody for five times that long and not known they were gay, for example.

In my experience, when you are having breathing difficulties, you cannot talk as fast as he was talking. And if you tried, you are so exhausted from the energy it took to force the words out, you'd need to take a break. At least that's how it is for me when my asthma is acting up.

There is no way the wife doesn't know he's a con. He has full use of his legs. My husband is a paraplegic. First off, he would never try and stand up to "prove" he's a para. Secondly, when my husband needs to transfer from his wheelchair to a chair or a bed, he uses his arms to lift. Plus she's right there to catch him! She knows he's faking it, because no one is going to stay in a wheelchair all day away from the public eye. Having mobility issues isn't something anyone would do if they could avoid it. Not being able to take off his jacket??? How did he get it on? Or for that matter take it off at the end of the day.His legs are supposed to be impaired not his arms. Even if he was a quadriplegic and had upper and lower body impairment they make specialized clothing (velcro closures etc...) to allow an assistant (such as his wife) to help remove the clothing. The way they do transfers is all wrong. He's helping with his legs rather than his arms and she's just grabbing him around his torso. Also they never explain why he's in a wheelchair or even why he's on oxygen. Why not a manual wheelchair since his arms are fine? An electric chair wouldn't be prescribed. First off, they are difficult to manage (as they are very heavy) and cumbersome (especially in smaller rooms and older buildings). Secondly you want to keep the arms strong and not have the whole body atrophy. Better than a wheelchair, crutches, because the world is not a wheelchair friendly place (even paras are given braces and crutches). Doctors want you to maintain as much independence as possible. Cons looking for pity, will crank up the "gimp factor" to 10. I would bet money there are no medical records showing he needs and medical devices. The TBP are right, he's using the medical devices to hide his appearance and distract.

I was wondering the same thing myself. His wife obviously knows he's Nicholas Rossi. The tattoos alone make it impossible for her to claim that she is being deceived so why wouldn't she leave him upon finding out? Why has she chosen to be complicit in his fraud? My suspicion is that the reason she is knowingly and intentionally helping him to carry out this whole facade is because she believes he is an "innocent man" being "wrongfully accused" so she has convinced herself that their actions are justified, an "any means necessary" strategy to protect him from "wrongful accusations and convictions". She even stated in the interview that "she knows him" and that "he does not have such tendencies" which is basically her expressing her rationale for taking part in this con with him.

22:13 "Because my wife can't even walk down the pavement to buy a pint of milk." Chase describes this as "British vernacular". Nope. No British person would "walk down the pavement". We "walk down the street" or possibly road. @@terranaxiomuk No, sorry, that's just wrong. A footpath in common usage, is any place designated for people to walk on, which may be paved at the side of the road, or may be a dirt path in the middle of nowhere. Legal English differentiates between a "footway", which is at the side of the road, and a "footpath", which is anywhere else. But nobody ever uses the word "footway" in day-to-day speech. The pavement is a paved footway, i.e., a paved area for pedestrians at the side of the road.
