Its one of my favorite things to do in summer. I catch them up here in the west midlands. Small river at the back of my house is full of them. You get some decent sized ones. I think its down to the fact no one catches them so they get to grow so big. Roll on summer so I can get back out there 😁 great vid

Hi mate, I watched your vid last year while researching catching and cooking crays, got the same stove from go outdoors you have cause of your vid and yeah, one year on and I'm doing my own catch and cook vids and loving it. I would highly recommend you find a clear running stream with em in and try them, they are so much tastier than from a lake, they don't have that after taste of dirt. Awesome vid mate, thank you for the inspiration 👍

Just came across your video.....excellent content! One of your commentators recommends you try catching them in a clear-running stream.....I suggest the River Roding upstream of Buckhurst Hill where the river runs fairly quick and clean (or used to) over gravel. There were a lot of freshwater mussels upstream of Chigwell Lane too. That was my fishing ground when I was a boy. The M11 runs through the valley there nowadays so access is trickier now. Ps I live in Australia now, shortly to head up to the tropics. Keep up the good work 🤗

After a couple of xrays, he informed me that he's got to remove them soon, like tomorrow. We settled for Monday as stuffs happening here on the coast over the weekend and I can put up with one stuck stone until then. He said OK but, there's a lot more than one. Anyway, Monday is blasting day then back out in the forest as the oceans bad due to a severe wind storm for a few days.

I thought you should not return a signal crayfish, or in this case to the pond? Good vid though.

Thomas thanks, you can buy panko in most supermarkets or you could make your own by coarsely grating leftover bread, spreading evenly on a baking tray & letting them dry out in warming down oven, good luck my friend!

USA- southern Oregon and going again for crawfish- we have native signal and 3-4 invasive s now; ballast water fro aisa and idiots that have them for bait or house fish tanks go out and dump them where ever and they attach to boats and lines and move.

This (crayfish fishing) is something my girlfriend and I want to try so I'm going to look into potential mesh net sites near Grays, Essex, and see if I can pick me up a few of these invaders ... the license is free so well worth doing, and they're supposedly delicious, so game on. Lots of great recipes possible if I can get a regular supply going so we'll see in the next few weeks.

@@shorefishingessex Will deffo have a bash - and they're supposed to be super-tasty, which means we can feast AND do the environment a good-un at the same time :) A mate down in Surrey (sometime carp fisherman) has got a few traps and now has hundreds of the Signals that he's cleaned & de-gutted (as per your tip), then halved and boiled/steamed, then peeled and bagged and frozen in portions that he's then put in the freezer - he says they freeze really well so anytime he fancies a scampi/shellfish treat, or a recipe calls for high quality shellfish, he just slowly defrosts a packet in the fridge and that's him and the missus sorted - for free! Result. PS: for a superb crayfish seasoning (for a rub or flavouring butter) try an American seasoning called Old Bay - it's not available in most UK shops but you sometimes get it in Hypermarkets or Amazon do it - it's not cheap but a little goes a long way and it's perfect for crayfish and prawns and the like - any seafood, in fact. Recommended.
