Catch Carp In The Edge | Jamie Hughes | Big Carp Margin Fishing | Match Fishing Tips

Catch Carp In The Edge | Jamie Hughes | Big Carp Margin Fishing | Match Fishing Tips
An exclusive clip taken from Winning Ways Episode 2 (May 2018) - vimeo.com/ondemand/winningwaysep2
Far from the 'traditional' approach of filling in the edge with huge amounts of groundbait and dead maggots, Jamie has refined his approach to maximise the number of carp he can catch during the final hour of the match.

    There's no doubting that Jamie is a great angler - his knowledge and attention to detail is astonishing. What amazes me is what a superb presenter he is as well - professional, articulate (ignore any comments about Scouse accent - I'm from the Midlands and can understand him perfectly) and clearly excited about what he's doing. And, he seems like a really nice bloke too. Keep the videos coming!

    Jamie, I adopted this approach yesterday and it really helped. I didn’t win but I felt much more comfortable fishing down the edge using these tips. Everything was less chaotic and I felt like I would get a bite every put in without loads of foul bookers.

    I watch a lot of Fishing videos, I tend to always read the comments, watching this channel is the first time I've gone across someone being given stick for their accent because your man there is Scouse. Firstly he's from the Wirral, his accent is closer to a Chester accent than a Scouse accent, not that it actually matters. If a Scouse or even any Northern accent bothers you I can point you towards a few channels run by southern anglers who are nowhere near as knowledgeable about Fishing as this fella, you won't learn as much but at least you will feel safe and at ease you poor little snowflakes 👍

    @Guy Fawkes If you don't consider it to be fishing, then just don't do it, simple as. I personally don't match fish anymore, I prefer to fish for the pleasure of catching nowadays instead of fishing for money or a trophy. But i wouldn't knock it, many people do it and enjoy it. Live and let live. Or fish and let fish?👍🦈

    Yeah he's a very good angler but when you say that you only ever fish to your left as I can understand it's easier being right handed but in match situations you don't and wouldn't put all your eggs in one basket because as you well know that feeding a different bait can make or break your match and sometimes one edge can out fish the other 👐

  • @WinningWays

    @WinningWays

    If you’ve got two even options in the match, then always opt for the comfy one as you will fish it more efficiently. But there will be times it’s not possible. As with all these videos it’s Jamie and Andy’s opinions, totally up to you what you take or don’t take from it 👍🏻 Jamie’s very much the keep it simple approach and it’s been doing alright for him 😂

    @@WinningWays Yeah I was too fishing 4 times a week as a sponsored angler until I fell ill but ill be making a comeback soon. I just wanted to point out that he would never fish 99 % of the time to the left and that is a fact. I don't mean to come across like an idiot but you can have the same depth each side and in occasions one will definitely out fish the other ¿ Thanks for your reply tight laggey 👍

    @@neilwatt5497 Fully agree that one can fish better than the other. What Jamie is trying to get across though, in his opinion, is that by picking and focusing on just one (usually the one he can fish most effectively/comfortably) you will put more in your net, rather than splitting your time and fish between either side. As we've said soooo many times in these videos, everyone fishes differently, this is just his thought process. Hope you get back out on the bank soon :)

    @@WinningWays Yeah he's done very well in his angling no question about that. Take it or don't take it seems harsh buddy as I've just watched him in 4 matches fishing to the right and left and ok I might sound like I'm being an idiot but the way it come across was as if it was set in stone for him but he fishes alot of F1 dominated venues where weights are high along with the fish count. Like I said I have not written this in an arguing way but all options have to be open. Like I said before ill soon be back on the big match calendar year 👍

    @@WinningWays I fully understand what you are saying but he wouldn't do that in a match situation unless a really justified reason too. Look at his live match fishing uploads. For example Pete Upperton who won Maver megaMatch This in 2015 was feeding one edge catching feeding then back on to the already primed margin lining up the fish. I suppose we all have our own way of fishing and feeding and I guess it's half the beauty of our sport hey. Yes I have everything crossed so I can get out and hopefully get back on my box and carry on where I left off !Tight lines 👍
