Yay, welcome back! Loved the 2nd game. Mono needed to be for brick, though.

Thanks! Yeah, I probably could have used the mono better haha

Nice games. Really didn't love the use of the RB on the second game though. You weren't hurting for wheat or ore by any stretch and getting right to the 3:1 port opens up your entire game, plus there was no need to defend 8/3.

Hey thanks! You're right, using the road builder to get to the 3:1 was probably better! I really like getting a city+settle on ore tiles so that a single roll gives a city's worth of ore, but that should have come later. Thanks for the comment!

I quite like it. The 8-4 is a great expansion spot If you city the 5-9-10 first. You just need to plan a bit more in advance.

The ore mono in game 2 was impulsive and probably cost you the game. You were never getting more than 2 ore (which you produce a lot of) and it wasn't going to significantly impact your opponent's game if they kept them in their hand. Had you saved the mono for later, you get your last cities very quickly.

Great point! A late game mono would have been a big victory swing, and I shouldn't have played it in such a reactionary manner haha Thanks for the comment!

If Schloop hadn't monoed the ore, what resource would he monoed later? Brick? Wheat? A brick mono would be nice for Schloop, because he doesn't produce brick, but similarly the ore mono was nice for Black, because they don't produce ore. So taking back the stolen ore was an OK move by Schloop in my opinion.

22:28 This is where you make a critical mistake. There is nothing to pop for. You need to use the YOP to secure the 6-11-12. With only 2 VPs, you desperately need these easy settles.

That may have worked out better. I think buying the final dev card is usually worth it, though. Unless you know for certain that all VPs have been drawn, it's a major swing taking the final one. Getting the last road builder would have also secured the final settlements quickly too. Thanks for the comment though, and it's definitely something to consider.

6-5-9 was a big trap in the first game. 6-9-4 is way better. Game was over after placements.

I’m the guy in the first video and i think that too. I have burnt myself a lot of times too, it’s so hard to leave 6,5,9. But i think i got lucky with devs also.

10:42 "There is not a lot to review there, I kind just did everything wrong." -- I beg to differ. Saying "I did everything wrong" is not much different than saying "I did nothing wrong". If you can't point to your mistakes, and be specific about them, it means that you don't know what your mistakes were. So you are destined to repeat them. I am pretty sure that if you analyze deeply this game, you will discover things that you didn't even noticed while playing it. For example I have no idea why you risked sevening out at 3:53, when you had the option to 4:1 your ore for the wheat you needed. What was your hope, that two wheats will fall from the sky so that you could use your ore for a city? That was a totally pointless risk to take, which indicates that your mind was not clear at that moment. You were focused on what different you could have done earlier, instead of focusing on what is your best move right now. Reviewing a game is best done after the game, not while you are playing it.
