I'd love to visit Catalina Island...it seems like an exotic getaway with out leaving the country.

Sunset, or very late afternoon trips back to long beach on the Ferry...with Dolphins pods breaching into the late warm light, all surging around the ferry,With you along for the ride, all blasting in the same direction... placing you into a world of the Kon-Tiki, or Hemingway, is simply a life transforming experience. It was for me. Good to see it without someone talking and pointing.

It is fun! Don't miss the underwater tour and the tour through the backcountry. It's beautiful!

I used to go here with my great grandma, so many memories....

I'm in my forties and I've grown up in Orange County and I've never been to Catalina Island. One of my goals for 2009 was to go there, so I hope to make it before year's end. Your video gave me some ideas of what I can do while I'm there. Thanks for posting this video!

I'm considering a vacation here, because it looks relaxing. This video helped convince me that I do want to go.

Yes! The Undersea Tour is definitely a must-see. The children especially enjoyed it, and we even got to see a Sea Lion playing in the nearby kelp forest. Thanks for commenting!

Next time you visit Catalina, I highly recommend the Inland Motor Tour. I was amazed at the beautiful natural landscape, and the ranch was very, very cool! Hope you had a wonderful time!

The pier has calico bass, mackerel, sand bass. A little offshore, you'll find halibut, yellowtail, white sea bass, sardines and smelt. Catalina is actually the birthplace of big game fishing, and its historic tuna club began in 1898!

Im going to Catalina Island on Feb. 11 (Friday) through the 13 (Sunday) on a 6th grade trip, though i used to live in Covina, CA, I now live in Glendale, AZ... I bet its going to be fun!

@Micah Anakin Yea, I have been using instaflixxer for since november myself :D

I knew that. we stopped there to take a look around when we were exploring one of the roads that loops up in the hills above the north side of Avalon. It still has the feel of stepping back into that time. I might consider staying there next time I visit.

ah, ok... glad to hear you are planning on updating with another video for this location. Even though there is a fair amount to do here it certainly is a very relaxed and laid back place. I was lucky enough to get some of my photos in a coffee table book sold at Buoys and Gulls in Avalon. I kind of "cringe" at some of them as I realized I had many better ones after the book had been published... look forward to your updated video!

For more budget-minded travel along the waterfront, Pavilion Lodge is a good bet and they have a free Continental breakfast in the morning. A couple other good choices are Hotel Villa Portofino and Hotel Metropole. More off the beaten path, the Zane Grey Pueblo is a quaint, historic and affordable place to stay.

she didnt mention the great golf course they have at Catalina. Our high school played against Avalon High School and I have to say it was one magnificent course to play on.

i live in Catalina :) It's a good place to visit and live, a good place for teenagers to go to is the teencenter. Just saying because most teenagers usually don't know what to do while they are visiting Catalina. You can make many friends and just hang out and have fun. :) Nice Review :)

haha i live on the island. :D its nice to see my home on here :) for the person who asked about having a car here, you get on the waiting list, its 22 years so... if you feel that your gonna be here for a while then sign up. You should of showed the isthmus. or little harbor. Or even showed the airport in the sky.

FYI it's 41 miles from Dana Point, and doesn't take an hour from that port. unless you take a help or an Avon hardbottom.

Hi Veronica, it´s okay what you show, but there are the normal things. It would be interesting to show some family hotels, or streets or activities (Bicycle, swimming). I´ll visit Catalina Island in a few weeks for the famous smooth jazz festival for the first time!

I live in California (Anaheim) and I wanna know if I need a passport or traveling documents to get to Catalina Island by boat. It's for a modeling competition i'm hosting in my school (Similar to ANTM). Do I and the 6 contestants plus production crew need to have traveling documents to go from Anaheim to Catalina Island? What are some not so expensive places to stay?
