He re-did the entire album a couple years ago, did new artwork, and released it on vinyl. I pre-ordered it and haven't yet opened it. A masterpiece for sure.
Glad you guys finally got to him.. One of the greatest singer-songwriters of the early to mid 70s who suddenly left music for his religion. Though he returned almost 40 years later.. Peace Train from this same concert is a must along with tons of others.. Nice review...

Left music for his religion, then publicly supported a Fatwah calling for the murder of Salman Rushdie because of a book he wrote (Satanic Verses). Not exactly a great move, really.

@@davidkulmaczewski4911 It's interesting how we remember only the bad things about someone. All I know is nothing ever came of that and I would still listen to his music in a heartbeat,. There are are tons of other artists that have done a lot worse things then he has done .. To be singled out for some statements.. (see Ted Nugent ). and that includes murder and other things (see Phil Spector) and we still listen..

I loved this song when it first came out. I thought of it as a daughter leaving home and her father explaining the world to her.

That's what I though too for the longest time, and when my daughter grew up and left home this song went through my head constantly. But as it turns out, the song was actually written about his split up with actress Patti D'Arbanville, who he dated for a few years. In fact he wrote a handful of songs about her including "Lady D'Arbanville. Even though it's about a break-up, when I hear it, I still think of it my daughter leaving home and it will always mean that to me.
A beautiful song ‘Morning Has Broken’!
Great reaction! Cat Stevens had a fantastic run of songs in his career before leaving and devouting his life to religion. Father and Son, Morning has Broken and so many others.
It is a timeless song, because it's about life . Not to mention it's really well done. It always gets me in the feels.
A classic song. Cat Stevens was huge in the 70's. He wrote great songs back then. Make sure to listen to the studio tracks too.

Nice reaction ! .. Lex once again has added some very interesting context to the song, with her story about the girl who did try to go out into the wild world and get by on her smile .. Good stuff ! PS :- Please do more Cat Stevens songs .. He's got so many classics .. "Sad Lisa" is melodic and haunting, and is my first suggestion.
Great catalogue. I had a "Tea for The Tillerman" cassette when I was a boy and wore it out.
You guys should react to more Cat Stevens… "Morning Has Broken", "Peace Train", "Father and Son", "The First Cut Is the Deepest", "Oh Very Young", "Where Do the Children Play?", "Moonshadow", "Hard Headed Woman", "Can't Keep It In", "Another Saturday Night" 🎸🤘

After he finally returned to music, I don’t think he sings “Another Saturday Night”. I think on some of his songs he has altered the lyrics when he performs. Hearing “Another Saturday Night” as a naive kid when we’d listen to Cat Stevens on trips, the subject was miles above my head. I thought maybe he’s upset because he doesn’t have a friend to go with to the movies. “Oh Very Young” is a favorite of mine. One of the lines remind me of these jeans I had in college that I wore until they just fell apart one day.
Brad low key swaying with the music. I think there's a hippie buried deep down inside of him.👍 Lex is beautiful as always.
Loads of great songs by him. He was a hit maker in the seventies. A total vibe.
This man is an amazing artist. Just about anything from the albums Catch Bull At Four, Teaser And The Firecat, Tea For The Tillerman, and Buddha And The Chocolate Box are winners. Tuesday's Dead, Moonshadow, Longer Boats, Into White, On The Road To Find Out, Boy With A Moon & Star On His Head, Freezing Steel, O Caritas, and so many others. Look up the stories of how he named some of his albums and where the artwork came from.

LOL You just listed 4 8-tracks that sustained me through high school:)
there were 2 guitars and an acoustic bass....best folk/singersongwriter songs are relatable, that's what makes them so good. cat stevens does it perfectly in this song...jim croce was wonderful at this as well. new artists like jason isbell does this as well, should check out some of his stuff.
I always get teary listening to this song. Peace Train is one of my favorites of his!
Great reaction! You two are always mad entertaining! Cat Stevens had sooo many great songs and his voice has a proper majesty about it. A particular favorite of mine is Where Do the Children Play.

Thanks, cats! Cat Stevens is one of my all time favorites! He has many amazing hit songs.
This is a timeless classic, miss the older stuff!
He sings with emotion. Was so beautiful.
Cat Stevens is the former stage name of Steven Demetre Georgiou (born in London on 21 July 1948). He is a British singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. His 1967 debut album and its title song "Matthew and Son" both reached top ten in the UK charts. Stevens' albums Tea for the Tillerman (1970) and Teaser and the Firecat (1971) were certified triple platinum in the US.
Loved Cat Stevens so much, still do. This reminds me of high school, too, but I was listening to this album with my best friends.
MOONSHADOW is another great song he wrote ..
I've seen him in concert several times. An Amazing voice
Cat Steven's song Father and Son is a great song , he sings the father and sons version with a deep voice being the father and a higher voice being the son! One of his best 👌
It's one of the very few songs where even some of the cover versions are nice. I like the Maxi Priest and the Mr. Big version as well.
His voice is amazing
Cat Stevens album tea for the tillerman is one of the best albums ive ever heard
Masterful song from one of the truly greats! Lex, your use of the descriptor "timeless" is a perfect one.
Definitely one of the most unique voices in the history of rock. ❤️ 🎶
"Another Saturday Night" is another good one from him. Love the contrast between the two of you.
I never thought I would enjoy a conversation about dental floss and laugh simultaneously.
for those that enjoy this song, don't miss out on the movie "Rock the Kasbah" with Bill Murray. The story of the first female to perform on talent show Afgani Star in 2007. Singing Cat Stevens songs she learned from an American GI.
The way I felt when my daughter grew up left home.
Not many times that a live version is as good or better than the studio version. This is one of those exceptions. Fantastic.
I grew up listening to this whole album , my dad was a big fan and our house was filled with great music. Cat Stevens is on of my favorites :)
Tea for the Tillerman and Teaser and the Firecat were two of the most important albums from that wonderful era of the 70's.
The studio version is epic and most certainly timeless! It has an energy and vibe to it that made it a huge hit back in the day!
Played this song all the time back in the day and its an easy song to sing along too-Just love him❣
My mom had Tea for the Tillerman and I loved that album. Cool cover art too. Jose Gonzales is a modern Cat Stevens.
Check out his "Peace Train," "Moonshadow," "Hardheaded Woman," "Oh, Very Young" or "Where Do The Children Play?"
Lex always has just a unique innocent perspective
Just pure talent. Don't see too many artists like this these days.
I think anything by Cat is so special. Such a wonderful sound, he was missed for some years, glad he's back.
This song and especially this version gives me a huge shot of nostalgia.

Peace Train is one of his biggest hits. It's a positive vibe song.
What an amazing and unique voice. "The Wind" is a short but beautiful song and my favorite. "Father and Son" is a must. "Here Comes My Baby" is an early song and one of his best.

One summer I worked building a Putt Putt mini golf course. The first thing we installed was the music but we had only 1 tape. Cat Stevens. Although we listened to that over and over, I still listen to him. Beautiful music is always Beautiful. His voice is calming.
Lex is right it’s a timeless song. This was before my time but I grew up on songs like this, thank God my parents had taste in music.
I read somewhere that this song was written after a long stay in a hospital and having to go back out into the real world.
Cat Stevens is my favorite since day one! I’m born 1978
the soundtrack to the movie Harold and Maude is all Cat Stevens, worth watching solely for the soundtrack. the quirky movie isn't bad either!
Please give us some more Cat Stevens..had 3 of his albums and there are a lot of nice teachings in his wonderful work from, in a way, a more peaceful times.
I recommend Father and Son by him next, if you haven’t already reacted to it.
Timeless authentic sincere music.
Thank you for sharing this with me
He's just the best. The songs from Harold & Maude are my favorites. They're scattered over many of his albums. They finally pulled them together for an official soundtrack. Cat, now Yusef is just an amazing artist/human.
I remember this song. It was released back in 1970. My older sister loved this album.
He's GREAT! Love Cat!
You guys should ride on the Peace Train..
He changed his name to Yusuf Islam in 1977 after adopting the Islamic religion. He quit the musical business until 2006 when he started recording again. My favorite Stevens song is "The Hurt". 🤔😎
I worked for Yusuf Islam [aka Cat Stevens] in the 1980s. He has so many great songs. Check out 'Where do the Children Play?' and 'The Wind'. Maxi Priest did a great reggae cover of Wild World.
Oh my God you guys that's hilarious. Yeah, this song and many of his were very popular when I was in junior high and this is always been one of my favorite of his although he has so many. His song Morning Has Broken is one of the most beautiful songs ever written and it was so popular, they even did it during church but I was a kid. But on the other hand, I remember listening to this in Sunday School because it appeared in that cult classic movie, Harold and maude. And plus it was on the radio all the time and I just really emotionally resonated with it as a kid. To me it's quintessential 1970s. And yeah I'm glad that he had the extra guitars and the acoustic bass guitar in the backing vocals for this live performance because yeah man anybody at the time that could play acoustic guitar would be able to play that at a campfire. But the way they did it there was much closer to the studio cut that was so popular on the radio. It's missing one thing though. And the studio cut, and those little chunk of chunka chunka sections there is a guitar line that's does all these really fast runs down into the next chord which I kind of missed in this.
Some favorites Peace Train, Where Do The Children Play, Moonshadow, Bitterblue, Hard Headed Woman, Oh Very Young, Morning Has Broken, Sitting, Father And Son, Angelsea, Can't Keep It In, Sad Lisa, The Hurt, Another Saturday Night... would make a nice reaction video. Cat Stevens was very big in the 70s...
and now you have run into one of the best singer/guitarist/songwriters of the whole generation. and his vault is DEEP. (suggest; "LISA, LISA", or "MOONSHADOW")
Love Cat Stevens!!! Grew up on Yusuf songs (1970s) ….Poetry🎶
To me this song was always about a guy projecting his own insecurities on the woman who is about to leave him. He's talking like she's the one who should be worried, when actually it's him who is terrified of being alone. The woman he's singing to, and belittling in a way, is strong and independent and she'll be fine. He might not be.
I love the squeak of an acoustic guitar 💖🦋
It was a wild world back then,it's even wilder world today, hey new song yall
My Lady D'arbanville my personal fave Enjoy
I strongly recommend “Sad Lisa”. written about a girl he knew that is open to many interpretations.
