Cat Removal - Twin Delkevic Mufflers - Speed Triple Mods & Maintenance 3

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

(Full exhaust installation starts at 3:00 mark includes necessary oil change.) Going through how to delete the catalytic converter on a Late 2007 to 2010 speed triple with the more difficult midpipe/y pipe cat set up (as opposed to 2005 to early 2007). To complete the system, I also unbox and install a pair of twin 14 inch Delkevic mufflers. (Triumph Speed Triple 1050 Delkevic 14" Stainless Round Muffler Exhaust 05-10 SL10)

    🥹Thank you.. Seriously that first 3/4 rear shot of the new cans in place was magnificent. And yes you’re right the sounds it makes is quite glorious. Also thanks a bunch for the ending ride out that gave the much needed release, lol. Really dig the rides through your city, just the right amount of hooliganism, almost video gamesque if you will. Anyway thank you again for the solid entertainment👏

    Stupid question. Why remove the cat? Why not just add the cans and be done with it?

  • @dushyantkarthikeyan
    @dushyantkarthikeyan Жыл бұрын

    I always change my washers. much rather a 50c washer than the paranoia of an oil leak. Also, why delete the cat at all? I never understood the desire to do that, especially considering that the bike is mapped for that backpressure and you would have to flash to get (anywhere near) a good map in the ECU for the changed flow characteristics. OEMs spend a long time on the dyno dialing in a good map, any aftermarket one is never going to be anywhere near as good. /endrant

  • @Theillestrator1050

    @Theillestrator1050

    That's fair regarding the washer. Regarding the cat, that's easy. More exhaust flow, it's the reason why when you get a race exhaust there is no cat to be seen. The arrow catless mid pipe would be the best option but it's unavailable. Deleting it to help the bike breathe is the next best option. Fortunately these triumphs are easy to remap with tuneboy or tuneecu for any modifications that you do. There are pre made maps selectable to match the specific bike. I have to disagree about being unable to dial the bike back in. The results are out there and proven.

    @@Theillestrator1050 I think our definitions of "proven" are very different. Fluid flows are extremely complex, less restriction in the exhaust is not always a good thing without holding other things constant. For example, by deleting the cat you have removed a reflecting surface that causes pressure waves to bounce back upstream, this has consequences for gas exchange especially during valve overlap. While at certain RPM and load conditions this might give you better performance (more max HP), the low end torque/part throttle operation are probably severely compromised. Also without an engine dyno and instrumentation to verify, you have no idea about in cylinder temperatures/pressures/knock... not ideal for reliability/longevity. There really is no replacement for a factory exhaust or a factory developed race exhaust/map package. Most aftermarket exhausts and tunes are half baked at best and dangerous at worst.
