    Thanks man, I learned a lot from older guys on how to run the older stuff and had to rely on youtube for tips on how to run the newer stuff like operating CAT scales and so on, so I'm just trying to pay it forward. My first yard loader experience was in a 980H with no scales and it was pretty busy so it was either learn fast or get booted out luckily the old man who normally ran it was nice enough to teach me!

    There’s more jobs in mining right now than you can shake a stick at brother! You’re not going to get what you want on day 1 but if you apply for a laborer position with in a year I would be willing to bet you would be offered an operators position. Hard work ethic, fast learning and common sense still mean something. Put an application in somewhere and see where it takes you!

    It's so weird seeing the joystick controls. When I was a kid in the late 70s and early 80s, I learned to load dump trucks in an old 966C and a 980. Actual steering wheel, left hand forward/reverse with rotating gear shift, and the three levers on the right. Days of old...

    @trakatrukis There are 2 ways to shift the machine. On the right stick there’s a button for downshifting only. On the left stick there’s a “thumb roller” that allows you to shift the machine up or down. If you watch my latest video skip ahead to about the 3 minute mark and I cover the location of the buttons and a brief overview of a lot of other functions. Hope this helps!

    If you combine the busy season and the off season: 60 hours a week from March 15th to November 15th and 30 hours a week from November 15th to March 15th. Its roughly equal $82,000 a year, and then the government taxes that so I don't see anything close to that so after taxes its probably more like $64,000.

    You should always load from the landing gear of the trailer to the back of the trailer. Anything on the nose of a frameless trailer can cause that trailer to flip over.

  • @Krutan_the_Loader_Man

    @Krutan_the_Loader_Man

    4 ай бұрын

    I agree but there are two things to consider 1. I only had half my bucket forward of the landing gear 2. with the amount of material that truck gets you would never be able to fit it all centered between the trailer axels and the landing gear in that style of of frameless trailer. Also at the end of the day its up to the driver where the load is put into the trailer so if he doesn't for example want to shovel the material down so he can close his tarp then its best to load the trailer how the driver asks. Now you may also say "well you can knock the hump down after you load trailer by back dragging it after dumping the last bucket" and to that I would say in a half round frameless getting 28.5 tons with all of it between the landing gear and the trailer axels there's no amount of "knocking it down" that's going to work as it would be to high and cause the driver to have to shovel the load down so he could close his tarp. You can clearly see the load is perfectly balanced and centered when I was done, I would even argue to point of having the load shifted to far to the rear could cause the tailgate to malfunction as there would be to much weight against it it would likely not disengage cause a catastrophic failure while lifting the loaded trailer which is also possible. I was a truck driver for 10 years before i did this and that exact thing happened to me.

    If you was loading something that would stick I’d agree but In my 35 yr of pulling dump trailers both frame and frameless I always loaded the front when hauling gravel. Maybe in flat ground it would be but in the mountains that are steep you want that on the front of the trailer to give traction to the tractor. So a sweeping comment as that is nonsense.

    @@garyowens3687 When I was running a dump trailer I preferred to be heavier on my drive axels also for added traction. At the 26 minute mark in this video I show you the highwall that the plant loader runs back to and digs a bucket out and then feeds it through both crushers and on to the wash plant where its cleaned and then loaded out. We basically take big rocks and crush them into little rocks, wash them and then sell them.

For having 6,000 hours, 138,000 cycles and nearly 1,113,000 tons on the log it’s still a good horse😂. Now as for the controls I would agree I didn’t like it at first as I learned on the finger controls (well technically levers as I learned on a 980B and then moved to a 980H) so it was an adjustment. But truthfully for loading and stockpiling the joystick isn’t terrible. If I had to do a lot of cutting and clearing I would rather have the finger controls.

    @@Lucysdad66 All the reasons you listed are valid enough. I guess if I wasn’t allowed to listen to the radio on your job I probably wouldn’t work for you and as I stated in the last comment the camera is not a distraction I turn it on and that’s it I don’t touch it again until I’m done. The only point I’ll give you is using a cellphone while operating that is unacceptable. As for the liability of filming something that shouldn’t be well it wouldn’t matter if you were filming it or not the EPA had complete access to the mine and they’ve shown up regularly so they will find out if they so choose. But we have rules that are strictly followed to prevent such things from happening. As for liability of filming an accident, in any of my videos did you witness any negligence? No, because I’m a damn good operator with or without the camera. I’m assuming that your engineer background isn’t in mining or aggregates so I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt but using a radio or filming is very common especially the radio there’s not an operator I know that doesn’t listen to tunes or audiobooks while working. And at the end of the day there’s no company policy against it. I don’t think you’re a dick like you stated at the end of you comment I think you have valuable experience can both be applied and not be applied to this situation that’s all. Wish you all the best in your retirement and thanks for watching and engaging it has made me think a little.

    @@jebuvas24 so not sure where you’re from but here in America the department of transportation regulates the weight of trucks. 86,000 pounds is the legal gross weight that your allowed to haul. There are exceptions to this law like purchasing a heavy haul permit that will allow you to haul up to 120,000 pounds but that costs money to buy the permit. So trust me friend it’s not about whether or not you can see what I put in there, it’s actually preferable that the police can’t see the load so me getting them fully loaded and the material not showing is exactly how it’s supposed to be done. If you’re wondering why it’s because if the police can see the load all heaped up they will be more likely to pull the truck over which can lead to a bunch of problems. So ya it’s fully loaded, legally and done the right way.
