We have some of the silliest glitches in LaMulana, often found by mashing together "What if we do this while doing this other thing and maintaining this game-state- oh! That makes you walk through walls and room transitions, neat!". Super happy to see halgo pop up here. :)

Being a GBA game, there is no floating point here. If the game needs higher precision than whole numbers, it will use fixed-point numbers (sometimes mistakenly called "subpixels" by speedrunners who don't know better.) Because your player's position is stored in fixed point, you cannot move outside the range of the data type. And fixed-point almost universally has a lower range than integers - as some of that range is traded for extra precision after the decimal point. So SM64-style parallel universes wouldn't exist.

Ah, that explains it. As we all know, La-Mulana enjoyers are all clinically deranged, so it only makes sense that a La-Mulana player would use their dubiously-violent archaeology skills to unearth the secrets of nuclear fusion in a completely different game.

Castlevania speed runners will nuke an entire castle, rending all its occupants into naught but dust, and say “nah my movement could be better”

Nah, the Castlevania side thought they depleted all the glitches. The La-Mulana side, on the other hand, said "you guys gonna break this?" and didn't wait for an answer.

Normal Belmonts: trudge slowly through the castle, fighting Dracula's minions in order Nathan Graves: becomes Death, destroyer of worlds, and starts phasing through walls to annihilate everything with his mere proximity

The real reason Nathan and Circle of the Moon isn't canon. He ended not only Dracula but his entire timeline.

Jupiter REALLY got me with that joke about Nuke not working on Death- great editing, you really sold the moment and got a good rise out of me xD

It's really cool to see this insane glitch getting some publicity. It's not every day a game gets completely shattered in this way, and this videos presentation is so well done!

I just think there are two categories. 1. Abuse everything to finish the game as fast as possible, or in as a funny way as possible. 2. Best possible time playing by the rules, enjoying the intended mechanics.

This was absolutely insane. Circle of the Moon was my first Castlevania game when I was a kid and seeing stuff like this is mind blowing to say the least lol

I'm not surprised it was discovered by a La-Mulana speedrunner considering the kinda stuff you have to do just to beat La-Mulana casually.

That rare W where a RTA is faster than the previous TAS

Castlevania before : Killing dracula with religion and skill . Castlevania now : One short nuclear visit .

a similar thing happened with terraria recently with transmutation and its surrounding glitches. it didn't just break the game's progression, it completely tore apart the game's engine. building precise structures and manipulating item IDs through multiplayer glitches to spawn thousands of the most powerful items in the game easily. the discovery of transmutation reduced the any% time from around an hour to around 5 minutes, if i recall.

7:25 I stopped the video after Jupiter said "What's gonna hit you?" and then I think of the moment that it happened in my run, I unpaused the video and I see it in the video lmaooo Amazing video, keep up with the quality castlevania content and thanks for sharing this glitch with a large audience!

I always watch glitchless categories if I’m just watching casually because I find just watching incomprehensible flashing screens and inputs somehow end the game in minutes to just be frustrating, but I adore explanation videos like yours that let me actually understand the skill and work that went into it. As a non-speedrunner, I'd like to say I LOVE glitches. It's one thing to see a game played normally, and sure it's really impressive seeing it played super well, but seeing the programming being pushed to its limits and still somehow holding together enough to still let the game be beatable is so cool! It's like the player and the game itself are really pushing themselves.

I've seen a lot of SR tech from many different games, and this might be the most insane and awesome non-TAS thing I've ever seen. Props to Halgorithm and the community for discovering it!

Circle of the Moon is in my top 3 of the series, I absolutely adore it. This video was great -- entertaining, informative, well edited and well presented by both of you, and genuinely made me want to go back and play a (casual) run of the game again. Thanks for what you do; I've been addicted to the SotN Tournament videos but I love your scripted/edited content as well.

This video is just incredible. I played Cotm when I was about nine yo and it struck me in its complexity and weirdness, and now I just restarted playing and enjoying it again like when I was a child. This brand new discovery hyped me into enjoying it even more. Man I love your channel

Technically this is like casting a holy-light spell on yourself, and just beaming anti-cursed energy everywhere you go. Which explains why it cannot destroy boxes, because boxes are not cursed or evil. So its a divine-aura spell.

I remember seeing this speedrun a while back and I had no idea what was going on... but I was thoroughly entertained by everything insta-melting. Thanks for covering what was going on in the run! This route is what speedrunning is all about!

In my opinion, glitches and glitchhunting are the cherry on top of a good game. They keep the comunity alive and if you don't patch them out can become kind of like memes

Circle of the Moon was the first Metroidvania-style Castlevania game I played. It's an odd game compared to the others, but it holds a special place in my heart.

knowing a la mulana speedrunner found the glitch makes so much sense why it took so long to find the glitch, considering what la mulana is like. :v

"Defeated Dracula at what cost?" is even funnier because Dracula isn't dead, he just sorta dipped for a bit. Nathan harnessed the sun itself and the vampire he unleashed it on got put in time out instead of a coffin. Makes you wonder what kind of SCP the team in 1999 was that killed Drac for good.
