Symphony of the night is literally the sequel of this videogame, it happens after 5 years after the end of Richter's quest to defeat Dracula. In fact, Symphony of the night starts with a prologue, showing literally this stage... but, of course, Richter was re-programmed to dash, slide, hi-jump and to do some other special moves.

@@user-wd6me5vz7p it's called "progress". Think about earlier Castlevania games. Only a whip (could be powered up) and a sub-weapon. That's all. In this Castlevania, you can pick back the sub-weapon if you take another sub-weapon you don't like. You have normal attack of sub-weapon and super attack of sub-weapon, plus some secret passages which lead you to whole different stages! In symphony of the night, they HAD TO think at something new! So we have special attacks for Richter, a whole grown up Maria (excluded in PS-X porting of the game), transformations and spells for Alucard (as well as an equipment system).

@@user-wd6me5vz7p since Castlevania Dracula X Ring of Blood was released ONLY for PC Engine, Konami made the prologue, on Symphony of the Night, on purpose! They were literally asking you to play Dracula X, too! Dracula X was ported on SNES, but the result was, in my opinion, awful!
