Death note's artist did a excellent job but the clothing makes the characters look nothing like their original designs

@Melkhiordarkblade I disagree. The only characters in Death Note with flashy designs are the shinigami. L, Light, and even Misa have simple designs throughout the entire series. But in this, he gave them gaudy outfits and are frankly overdesigned.

Joseph Ponce it was and still is a good idea. The character designs betray this idea unfortunately. If they had taken it more seriously, the game could've gotten sequels. Mechanically speaking, the game should've featured more verticality (smash bros is one example) to simulate the Castlevania experience. The grounded combat here wasn't a good move for the franchise in my opinion.

Nah, it had only 2 problems. The designs and balance. Back in the day fighting games weren't as popular, so it didn't have that much competition and competing directly vs Brawl in its own console would be suicide.

I would like a 2D fighting game instead of this. With the original designs but music similar to this. Better balance, more strategy (Judgement is basically pressing B and A constantly) and a way better UI. ArcSys is our salvation.

My favourite was Simon's finisher. I mean, SERIOUSLY?! How the hell do you whip someone 99 times in 10 seconds?!

I really wish Grant in the Netflix series. He's in the same timeline as Trevor and Sypha. Actually, they are partners and all the people called the 3 legendary heroes.

The ending of the video had such good comedic *timing.*

Definitely the oddball in the Castlevania family but the actual gameplay was solid and the fact Takeshi Obata did the character designs was awesome. It certainly puts a big new spin on established characters. Except for Shanoa who was 1 for 1 made to look like she does normally for the Ecclesia DS games

There was a character customization option in this game. So many hours spent on making them look as horrible as possible, I loved this game.

Just today I felt the need to replay this 12 year old game of mine, and for some reason I felt the need to turn on japanese voices for the first time ever and hit the training room and try out the supers again. It was at this moment I realized, Simon Belmon's Ultimate, in Japanese, goes "ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA" while he rapid-whips... ...I'm playing a castlevania game, with death note designs, and jojo's references...

Character design is pretty cool. Hate how I just now heard about this game

I'd like to see a sequel, but with a major revamp: traditional 3D or 2D fighting, not like Power Stone that Judgment seemed to have, replace the hearts by a gauge, add Richter, Albus, Jonathan, Charlotte and Soma, and finally get the REAL character designs... but keep Obata's ones as alternate costumes. Some like the new designs, but some don't, so might as well please both sides by having both kinds... but cutting Shanoa's hair instead of wrapping it was an insult. Thanks for the upload BTW ^^

Looks interesting but most finishers appear to lack any sense of feedback. The strikes just appear rather shallow. A slight shaking effect mighta helped there but~ Oh well.

My biggest disappointment was the lack of Richter, the character who my first thought upon seeing for the very first time was “Huh. That guy looks like he should be in a fighting game”

Favorite fighting game of all time

I have to say, you missed a really good opportunity to draw further attention to Aeon's ability to bend time by having him square off against Alucard instead of Grant at the end. Since you made a point of having each person who was attacked by an Ultimate become the next person to demonstrate theirs, you could've made it possible for this to have a consistent self-contained narrative if you'd used the latter instead of the former. Grant starts everything off, Aeon kills Grant and starts the whole thing over again. But, regardless, this was a good video! Thanks for sharing!

You're gonna be surprised by the characters' original looks, because some are not accurate. Anyway, I had the game too, but the problems were the arena and that you could free-run. The hazards were a pain to deal with sometimes and since you could run out of hearts, it becames a scavenger hunt to break obstacles to get hearts back, slowing the match. The concept was awesome, but I'd wished it was like Soul Calibur, Virtua Fighter or DoA, if 3D is still used; the free-run ruined the game IMO.

@@dante7302 you mean 2014? The game series hasn't been heard of since then lmao, and most original castlevania fans don't have fond memories of it. It would be a better idea to reboot it again based of the original series while also using elements from the TV show. Would bring in new fans of the show and older fans of the OG games.
