I just bought the x max and I can't wait to try it out. I had an rc buggy over 30 years ago and after watching many you tube videos I decided to buy one. These trucks are so much different than what I remember. They are pretty expensive but they can take a beating and this truck looks huge.

I ran the same 1-1 ratio before and it was crazy fast but killed off batteries fast. I've found a bit milder ratio of 20/30 for 1100kv and 25/30 for the 800kv to be more useful bashing around. What batteries do you run and whats the runtime?

The way I drive both feel really good, The Monster X esc will be the limiting factor to overall power, that's why Castle still has the XLX ( I'm expecting a sensored version XLX in a few months ). So both side by side I'd have to give it to the Max5/800. Now remember this esc isn't meant to compete against that one but I'm pretty darn sure this will hang with any MAX6/800kv out there. Does HW even sell the max6 with a big 800kv? I know they offer it with the slightly smaller 1100kv.

The esc is awesome, the big 800kv motor is too big. I have a video on putting a hobbywing 160 in the UDR search “big block UDR” castle is working on their own sensored version 1650 so hang on for a little while and you’ll have what you want

  • @ExocagedRC

I feel the Max5 overall could be stronger but this one has been documented sustained amp loads of over 300 so its not weak. I think it comes down to budget ( the max 5 and 800 is less money ) or if you really want smooth take offs and control, castle is the way to go.

No it won’t fit in the UDR. Castle is working on a sensored 1650kv and that can be made to work on the UDR. I have a video of me running a Hobbywing 1650 in mine with the 34t pinion and 51t spur and I show how to make it work. Check the channel for it.
