The Castle Creations Cobra 8 is the first of a new generation ESC's made by the Olathe, Kansas based manufacturer with over 25 years of experience in delivering record setting electronics for the Radio Control market. The Cobra 8 is their first ESC to feature a 32-biys Dual Core processor which opens up a ton of possibilities compared to its predecessor. Eight times more datalogging room, an increased datalogging frequency, ample room for future features and updates to be added, an all-new Castle Link system which allows you to set the Cobra 8 up to your preference and much more. Some awesome key components from earlier Castle Creations products have made it to the Cobra 8, and are combined in one product for the first time EVER! For example, the auxiliary wire, which allows you to reach certain predetermined setting from your radio. We see CryoDrive, a system which ensures the coolest running temperatures and SmartSense, a revolutionary way to enhance the way a sensored brushless motor system operates.
Below the product description as presented by Castle Creations:
"We're thrilled to introduce the Cobra 8, our next generation electronic speed controller (ESC) for surface applications. As the inaugural product in a new line, the Cobra 8 is engineered with cutting-edge technology tailored specifically for 1:8th scale vehicles.
The Cobra 8 boasts a state-of-the-art 32-bit dual-core processor, ushering in a new era of precision and performance. Its enhanced data logging capabilities offer extended recording times, faster sampling rates, and a wealth of data points, enabling users to delve deeper into their vehicle's performance than ever before.
Crafted with a CNC aluminum bottom case, the Cobra 8 is engineered to endure the most rigorous conditions, ensuring reliability in every race or off-road adventure.

I have so many castle setups. Ive had a mamba x for almost 5 years now with a 3800kv slate motor. Its started off in a trx4. Then got moved to a 10ii, and run on 4s. Had a mamba x in my drag slash with a 4.5 turn motor as well. And a moster x and 1515 2200 kv motor in a 4x4 slash which even on 4s has more power than it could possibly need. Also have a sidewinder4 in my smt10 with a 4800kv motor. I've used them in the snow, the mud... crawling, bashing, everything! (Guess i should be sponsored by now right? )

Saying 32bit doesn't mean anything because there are so many architectures built upon different word sizes is it arm, stm, atmel, pic, riscV, x86. How much working ram does it have, eeprom size, non-volatile memory type or size. Does it support fp32? What is the idle current draw? Can it support custom firmware. Does it run Doom? Saying 32 bit is like judging a guitar player's talent based on their word haha. No offense, it's an awesome looking piece of kit. If the company comps me one I'll see if it runs doom on one core while the other calculates prime numbers in the fibb sequence and in what time domain. I suspect it has an esp32 with 512k of memory and 4mb of nand with a ch34x or cp2x based serial ic and an asynchronous one way bitwise decode/encode on die eeprom for faster rf packet parsing with watchdog timers for "smart" features. What kills me is they'll give that British guy a supply that never ends because he destroys every rc he gets. I forget his name, he destroys so many rcs with blatant disregard for maybe giving a machine here or there to some local underprivileged kids. It's one of the things I don't get about some creators who get everything for free. I donate rc kits locally all the time and I'm a fat, middle-aged man on a retard pension. Hahaha I'm mostly kidding and no offense to you brother. Great content and thanks as I wouldn't have heard of that esc for a while. Who cares what kind of 32bit platform the controller is based on. FYI, on Castles page in the specs it states the app with the Bluetooth link is still in development at the moment. Weather that’s accurate or not, I don’t know, but this is a pretty disappointing release over all. I guess they have to start somewhere, but has Castle even heard of 12S yet? I’m over Caslte anyways, I’ve now switched everything to HW ever since they came out with the G2 esc’s. Too many problems with the Castle systems, lack of protection, etc. I’m not speaking for everyone, that’s just me.

Thanks for watching! 8th scale ESC's are of course their bread and butter, so seeing this release is in terms of sales numbers and corporate confidence more significant than them coming out with the 12S version immediately. I think we will see new releases being dropped at a steady pace now that the Cobra 8 is here. Also, they have always applauded competition as it forces their engineers to push the envelope, if there is nothing to live up to or surpass things become dull fast. Have fun!

Dude There are not many rigs that can truly utilize 12s without being completely over powered and the ones that can are out of many price range. I run 6s more than anything. 1/8 scale is the most ran platform and even 1/8 scale struggles with 8s. Also weighs a ton. Not everyone wants a 1/5 scale or larger that will cost them well over 1000 dollars just for the rig let alone 12s electronics and batteries.

I can get a HW Max6 G2 for about 150€ that totally smokes this thing or a Max8 G2 combo with motor for 200€, no hate against Castle but their development is just to slow and production costs to high. Castle offers great warranty, but like the other reply states, it's very often user error that causes the setups to fail catastrophically. Inappropriate powering, gears way too tall, cheap batteries or a combo of all aforementioned aren't a rare sight unfortunately. You'd be surprised to see how uneducated some treat their gear.
