Do you think this spool would hold up to using light (let's say 10-11 grams total) texas rigs around pads if you had to horse them out once in a while?

Not sure, haven't tested larger lures yet. But it will come. Just doing the UL stuff as folks requested it.

How does it compare to the OEM spool? I have been using mine with a dobyns 635cb as my do it all car rod. Ive been throwinf anything from a 1/32 mushroom head with 1/2 a 3 inch senko that weighed in at 3.5 grams to a 7/8 oz river2sea glide bait. Absolutely love this reel.

I never measured with OEM spool for UL fishing. But i will likely want to try to compare on a ML rod for 1/8th Oz from stock and this spool. Is 3.5 the total weight of your lure with the Jig? And how much line you have spooled on? And what line diameter?

Yes I'm also interested in knowing how this RORO LC23 compares to the Zillion stock spool. Is it really worth it? Are you really getting that much extra casting distance??

I think it would for the lighter lures, but probably not the heavier. We will have to find out

Lol.. While this spool can be used for the UL, I definitely won't be. It was just to appease what the folks wanted. I will use it on a Medium rod likely or ML for some bassin

The spool can work as is out of the box. But there's things you can do like bearing changes. It depends on your fishing needs.

Great as alway!s PD: What kind of knot you use to connect braided to leader? I always use Fg Knot, but in this finesse lines is really hard not break the line when tighten it.

I use the GT-knot, it never lets me down and with thin lines the knot slips through guides easy. And very Quick to tie

When I cast test, I usually just use faster knots like the Albright knot. It's a simple and strong knot if tied properly. Fg is not needed and over rated

Perhaps! As shown, it can cast light lures on UL. I assume u will be using larger lures? What do you typically throw and your rod and line choice for steelhead?

@@rawrfishing Small piece of pencil lead on a swivel, 3 feet of leader with a size 1/0 hook and a piece of shrimp. Usually with 8-12 pound mono.

@@rawrfishing Rods are 8 1/2 to 10 feet. 8-17 lb rating but with mod fast action and soft tip.

Sounds like you can use bait casters... What total weight are you throwing? It's really important to know what weight you are throwing to choose the right setup

@rawrfishing it's hard to Gauge total weight. Usually 1/8th ounce pencil lead plus the swivel. The leader and not so aero dynamic bait creates the issue. Currently using an older (first gen Pro Qualifier) and I have to thumb the hell out of it, kills my distance.

I would rather have seen you test out how long of a cast you can get with that spool on the Zillion. instead of how light.

I intend to use it as a long cast spool long term. But Since ppl were interested in seeing it as a bfs spool, I am doing a few test before I do that so stay tuned!

What did they do to it that could make it cast faster than stock? Isn’t it just a fixed inductor?

Fixed inductor removed the dynamic braking for a static and consistent brake application to the spool. But mainly it's lighter... My unboxing video got the details!

It’s not meant to be a bfs spool, it’s designed to cast far with a full spool.

It sure does! Given the brakes is static, the only few things I can do would be bearing changes and then lastly line choice and the amount spooled on for your specific rod (which is also a choice lol) fun isn't it?

Thx here's the specs from their website Weight : 5.70 g (Standard Model without bearing) / 6.66 g (Standard Model with bearing) Weight : 5.75 g (Thicken Model without bearing) / 6.72 g (Thicken Model with bearing) In regards to the stock aatw spool, you can try plat Co jp for parts! They carry parts for many reels! Another would be hedgehog studios
