Testing The New Daiwa Zillion For Speckled Trout

Спорт

Join LAFB Elite to discover how I find and catch speckled trout and redfish from scratch: www.lafbelite.com/join-lafb-e...
I had this fishing trip perfectly planned out. I knew where I could catch some fish and shoot video for the new Daiwa Zillion SV G casting reel.
After all, it was a weekday and early in the morning, who else could possibly be out on the water?
Well, I never saw another boat but, when I finally did, there was one sitting exactly where I wanted to be! 😞
No, I wasn't mad, because that's just part of the game, and one of many reasons why I love inshore fishing. ❤️
It was still a great day of fishing and I am thankful to have the ability to go.
Anyway, I test out the new Daiwa Zillion SV G for speckled trout and I'd have to say it did one hell of a job.
Watch the video all the way through to see for yourself :)

You should be catching LOTS of speckled trout and redfish during the spring pattern! In my course Spring Fish Location you'll discover the key to locating biting fish so you catch every time you launch the boat. Check out the curriculum here: bit.ly/3CfQKQc

If you’re one that truly enjoys fishing, you can appreciate all the little extras certain reels and rods give to you that the less expensive models do not! I really like the brake adjustment wheel on the side lower front. When I moved back to LA a few years ago and started to buy new fishing equipment, so much had changed in the industry that I was one of those guys who was quick to say, “You’re CRAZY spending that much on a rod/reel!” After starting to learn a different estuary from what I grew up fishing, I was forced to accept things are much different in the Lake P system and either adapt or get skunked, I don’t like to be skunked, so I adapt! My first purchase was a St Croix Avid X after watching certain techniques on video, my next was a reel at a later time. I really get a lot out of fishing and is a sense of therapy in a form of fishing, I still weigh my options on quality and am much more selective about my equipment now! I don’t know if I’d pay $300 bucks for a reel, but I have spent over $200 on one so far! I enjoy the hell out it as well, comparing it to the less expensive reels, it’s lighter, casts further and SMOOTHER and you can actually FEEL the difference in the quality! I equate that to MORE fish being landed in comparison, especially in the winter when the bite is a light tick on the line, all equipment together allows for a more positive outcome and I never understood how all that would come together prior! Thank you for the information you have put out, bc you have educated me on many things in this estuary, along with others!

Enjoyed the video! Had good luck with twitchbaits this winter and I really prefer to fish them over soft plastics. Will they continue to be affective into the summer ?

Here's a question for you Dev, have you noticed any difference in hard jerk baits like the Mirr-o-Dine vs.soft jerk baits like a Corky when it comes to hook up ratios or fish shaking the hook? Thanks.

Is the zillion close to the same size as the newer tatula sv’s? I love all my tatulas but the newer sv’s are my favorite. What are your thoughts on the coastal sv? I absolutely love mine for slinging topwaters.

They're about the same size, yes. The Coastal SV is nice, but it's specs are easily had in the Tatula SV or 150.

How has this reel held up in the salt? I do a lot of wade fishing and noticed it doesn’t have corrosion resistant ball bearings but not sure how much of a difference it actually makes

I fish freshwater but if you're using mono or fluoro straight run your fingers 18 or so inches from the line tie to feel abrasions and kinks. You have to be vigilant about it or you will lose some
