    @@akaNoraKnits yes! Please do because I know, by how you talk and think about mods, you will get so much out of it. She has a great one on adding short rows and the proportions of different ways to do it. Watching the way you did it for Folklore made me think about it.

    Here is my trick for knitting cable patterns and lace repeats. I use spiral bound 3x5 cards and I put each cable repeat on each card. If I am working with more than one cable in a pattern I will color code the cards. I use sticky tabs so I can label each card to make flipping to the instructions easier without losing my place in the pattern. I know you have finished the sweater but I hope this advice will help you next time.

    I adore you write out the graphed pattern row by row, because I do the same exact thing and always question my sanity when doing so 😂

  • @anngiles7420
    @anngiles742029 күн бұрын

    Yes I agree the short rows for the neck and the shoulder shaping if I make it again, I used an arran yarn as I'm in UK. The black yarn strips I knit the first colour change row 1 all knit ,row 2 knit one purl one and same with first row of change back to main colour(right side). The only difficulty I had was the setup row after that stitch markers were my friend. It took me three weeks to knit the whole garment, I mainly crochet these days but special request from gd.

    I'm knitting a beast of a cable sweater at the moment and have shared so many moments with you - the highs of reaching key moments and the lows of frogging big sections. I also had issues with laddering when moving from the knit of the cable to the purl of the ground. It happens as you introduce extra yarn when bring the yarn forward to purl. I worked out a quick fix: purl that stitch and then take the yarn back as if to knit - instead of knitting give the yarn a tug (you will feel the extra yarn being pulled through) and then take the yarn forward and carry on purling. Anyway, one of your best episodes ever. So inspirational!

    To be honest when I saw the individual panels, I was a little worried that you went too far in scaling the sweater down. I was very happy and relieved that it fit your cousin so well and she loves it! It was also generous of you to offer to make her a larger size someday because it was a lot of work!❤

    I love this pattern but I also hate it so much! I can't for the love of god, understand the front left panel decrease part (I'm stuck there and haven't done the right panel). It's not making sense to me AT ALL at the body-shaping section 😫

  • @akaNoraKnits

    @akaNoraKnits

    It is totally a tricky one!!! I definitely messed mine up a little there. My best advice is to add a lifeline before you start the shaping and then do your best to just trust exactly what the pattern says to do there. That way, if things don't look right, you can always frog back to the lifeline and start over again! I'm sure you can figure it out!!!

  • @ginnyc

    You didn't rip back a full 9 rows did you? You just ripped back those 8 stitches back for 9 rows or so. If you don't know how to do that just look up some videos, it's easy. If you are not familiar, please do some practice swatches, you'll never rip out full rows, just for a couple of stitches again. 💜 Also those gaps you mentioned are because purls use more yarn. You can fix those gaps by twisting the stitches. ( Or so I've been told!) Thank you for sharing, sweater looks great. Doing sleeves together is a great idea. 💜

    @@akaNoraKnits After many years of knitting I only recently started doing cables, and only figured out that I could rip back a small number of stitches instead of entire rows after making a number of mistakes on a complicated jumper. Absolutely life changing!!! Congrats on this cardigan, it's fabulous!
