Some butter? That’s 400 calories worth, add the oil which is probably around 300, plus the rib eye itself which is almost 700, that’s around 1400 calories for a steak.

If you haven't tried this you could also smoke the meat by putting it on a saucepan adding some oil/butter to a mini foil bowl then adding a hot charcoal to the foil bowl creating smoke instantly, leave it covered for however long you want or until there's barely any smoke left and then you season your meat and cooking it on the cast-iron.

People disregard pan-seared stakes too much in my opinion. A perfect crust EVERY time with the hot oil. I like to use a high-quality cold press olive oil for my steaks to get a delicious, nutty, savory taste even without using butter (which i still use, Kerrygold, btw) and then rest it with a small amount of fresh kerrygold to have the fresh butter flavor along with the roasted, basted butter flavor. Never had a bad steak since using this method!

What are the temps of the pan throughout cooking? Do you lower it when you add butter? Mine always burns

  • @popaandrei4422

Yes, after searing, you have to lower the heat ( idk the temps, i just go by how it feels right ) You start searing with mid-high temp, and lower somewhere to mid or below (depending on your fire source)

A lot of them will force themselves to eat a rare or blue rare steak because they think it’s more masculine to do so. If I’m cooking for others (not in a restaurant so I’m not charging money for friends and family I invite to a cookout), I tend to target just under their request because their definition of medium rare might be different from mine. If it’s not done enough, I put it back on the grill. You can’t undo overcooking though

I don't like to touch my steak a lot when it's searing. Plus if you want the butter to not burn just sear the steak like you normally would but turn off the heat completely then baste. The residual hear from the cast iron is plenty to melt the butter, continue to cook the steak and ensure no burning butter.

This is honestly the best way to cook a steak not only is it delicious, but the cast-iron serves an important role in allowing a smaller amount of iron to absorb into the meat. the benefit is your body getting a little bit more iron that it needs plus it’s the proper way to cook a steak just look how delicious that looks great job
