Not just your excellent tutorial, but the time index has been invaluable to me, usually when changing backwards and forwards between DST. Thanks for an excellent video which is a companion to my watch.

I'm so glad I watched this. I have a GA-1000 from 2012 but I stopped wearing it because I had no idea how to calibrate the compass and the hands. Now I can wear it again!

Thanks heaps, man. My compass was reading roughly South. I tried calibrating it, to no avail. Through your tutorial I was able to pick up that the second hand was 33 seconds out. Hands aligned = compass corrected. Greatly appreciated!

Very good review.. everything in detail.. my compass was out, now calibrating the seconds and minute hands corrected it.

I have a GA-1000-4A (Orange) that my wife got me for Christmas 4 years ago. I love it. Just ordered a GBA-800-1 because I wanted another watch with a very legible, easy to read face, better illumination, and something in black so it matches a wider range of outfits I wear. (I can’t wear orange or grey EVERY day. Haha) These G-SHOCK watches are addictive.

You mentioned in 17:55 that it does not have time swap function. Well, it has actually. When in WT mode, press both adjust button and light button, then it will swap between 2 time zones. I have this watch since 2013, and it is a good one. Last but not least, great review and tutorial. Thank you.

I'm a US Infantry Marine and these features such as the compass and temperature help me greatly along with the easy to read dial and especially the ability to set it to mils grid vs magnetic for land nav. I just ordered this watch in the orange and black. I needed a NON smart watch, but still wanted a dual time zone feature. The compass and alarms were nice add on features and i HOPE this night display is as cool as it appears on screen. Cant wait to get mine in the mail.

@17:56 - Actually, if I'm not mistaken, it DOES have the time swap function. Press the Light and Adjust buttons simultaneously and it will swap the alternate and home time zones. I saw another youtuber demonstrate this. Great videos by the way, you do a fantastic job showing the details of how these watches work. I find it so valuable because many of these features are so subtle that it's hard to figure out what they do.

Thanks for this complete tutorial, for those who think 5 minutes is enough you gotta find yourself missing. my watch is like this sir but only the hour hand and minute hand will glow in the dark, the number 3,9 and 12 won't. and the light is color blue comes from twin sensor.

The hour hand on my ga-1000 1a is not lighting up like the one on this video. What should be the problem?

The compass is nice,it lights up nice, but my MTG-900 is still better at telling time, date, day of week day or night. It's not as bright but my old eyes can read it easy without glasses. It has the tilt up auto light feature but most importantly its wave-ceptor style (pre wave-ceptor I think). It's solar too. Honestly, I think it's the best g-shock ever made because it's the most practical. I cant even believe some newer models ditched the wave-ceptor and the solar. All the excess stuff compromises the display readability. The MTG-900 has typical other functions, multiple alarms and a snooze, but one misunderstood one is the timestamp. I use it to review security footage when I think someone might have ripped me off. Saves time reviewing video footage. But the main thing is I can look at my watch in dark and without struggle see time, date and day of week without hardly need to focus. Your watch, even though much brighter on shows time well.

Another question. When in the compass mode can I have the screen shower the north position. At the moment when I press compass the arrow point north but the screen says south.

What a great tutorial and review, thanks a lot for not spending too much time reading the small manual :) I really like casio g-shock the best...

It does have a world time swap function. In world time mode just press the 2 top buttons A and B together and it will swap time zones.
