I have watched his videos before. He is the most detailed of all of the videos I've seen. Very thorough. I am pulling the trigger on the black version positive display. Excellent video.

The more modern and simplistic display gives off a whole different vibe than other G shocks. Easy to buy 10+ G shocks in the 50$ range, but the displays are basically the same. This one easily gives you a sense that you got something new and fresh as a G shock collector.

Very few people know,appreciate, and understand the engineering behind this model. Every thing in this new Mudman has a reason and a purpose. One small example: the light button is at a lower angle.

Finally. A video about a Casio watch. I mean, a GREEN Casio watch! Excellent video, as usual!

I have no complaints after a week of wearing the black 9500 with the positive display!! It more comfortable than my GWG-1000 Mudmaster, and both of my Frogman models: digital/analog.

I didn't know you could adjust the latitude and longitude. That's an absolute game changer for me! I live on the far west border of the CST cutoff and always have to set my city to Chicago so my sunrises/sets have always been way off. Thank you!

Nice watch. I always criticized the small size of the numbers at G-Shocks in general, especially on negative displays, but this new 9500 is nearly as large as my AE1500, which is great. Nice review, man, great features on this one, plus a great color you got, might have a collection value in the future. Keep it up.

I don't understand how come your watch dial is so much more legible than most of the other reviewers?!! Is the other positive display using same panel?

When it comes to the thermometer you just need to figure out the average heat added from your body to the watch. Once you get a rough estimate +5 degrees or so, then you just account for that when taking the reading.

This style of module has been around for a while in the Protrek line. I have one in my PRW-3510y. I think it’s fantastic but wish it could display the moon phase. If you think this case is too bulky check out the watch I mentioned. Still very robust but a bit more subdued.

Ehy vant they make an updated version of rhe Protrek prw 2500H, where along with teiple sensors and dual lauer LCD for compass etc, it also shows detailed info for tides. Currently no Protrek provides any tide info as far as I know.

Thought it was kind of ugly UNTIL you showed the Iguana. Now I'm all in... Great video as always.

Wow the contrast and legibility on your Love the Sea and the Earth Mudman GW-9500KJ is much improved over my Mudman GW-9500-1 (black w/red accents positive display, USA general issue) which has light digital characters and low contrast with the background especially compared to my GW-9400-1 Rangeman ( positive display, black with red accents) which has amazing legibility & contrast (but obviously smaller characters)! Maybe they are all slightly different or maybe they improved it for this KJ edition? Is it an STN display? Still excited to have and wear the watch its legible enough but the Rangeman is still a favorite too! Thanks Greg, for a great in depth review or a very interesting colorway of a super capable watch!

As I was making this video I tried to hold the watch at the best angles for viewing and I had a lot of light over the table. So maybe that’s why the watch display might look different from yours. But I am guessing that the positive LCD versions look the same, whether it’s the mostly-black version or this iguana-inspired version.

This is the chunkier brother of the SGW-1000 you reviewed. They have used the basic internals of that model to the max.

@@GoodTimekeeper definitely consider it, the display is huge and beautiful and has vibration alert, really underrated G-Shock. The LCD is much bolder and crisp than most G-Shocks, it almost looks like a STN display.

Casio used to make crown in titanium for little money, nowadays the use of plastic is just all over the top. No doubt that GW-9500 it's a nice watch but gee... that's a Pro Trek with lipstick on it. BTW Nice video😭

I LOVE IT! Well not so much the model, though I'm a big fan of Casio. But the Iguana conservation concept is genius 😁👍 I love iguanas. Know about the Fiji banded iguana. We have a rescue Green Iguana that lives in his own room in our home. If Casio made a version called Iguana Delicatissima , also known as lesser antillian iguana. I would just order it immediately without looking at the pricetag 😅 (They have a wonderful head-bob and are also very endangered) Love all your videos. They are by far the best step by step introduction of features. Some videos I've replayed several times and I've bought models after seeing your vids 👍👍👍 Greetings from Denmark

The strap helps the watch hug the wrist - I have 6 1/4 “ wrists and it fits fine.

The Casio AE-1500WH module # 3502 in black with a negative display is an AMAZING looking watch for the price. All blacked out & looks way more expensive than what it is. 🔥Interesting green watch, but way above my budget.

The normal "home" screen on this Mudman looks an awful lot like the regular timekeeping "home" screen on the AE-1500.

Glad that Casio has come to its senses and started using the much more readable AE-1500WH-format display with large time font. As for the atomic radio time sync, these days bluetooth sync seems more practical for most people. I just wish Casio would come up with a better interface than an endless combination of button pushes for all of those functions. It's like programming with bit switches. I would always forget how to do something, and one day would take a rock to it, and good bye Casio.

These new G-Shocks don't inspire me at all. Huge pucks with limited (by today's standards) functionality. Apparently, I will completely go to Apple Watch, which I have been wearing for several years together with Rangeman GW‑9400, GW‑M5610U and DW‑5600E, and recently I have almost completely switched to Apple Watch, which in real life and work turned out to be much more practical, useful and aesthetic. I will buy an Apple Watch Ultra 2 this year, which along with the gorgeous bands and bracelets inspire and evoke incomparably more emotion in me. And there is nothing to say for their functionality, which G‑Shock never dreamed of.

I agree. I have a similar situation. Watch faces on G-Shoks are getting uglier and uglier with jagged fonts. And it can't be changed, just like the straps. Anachronism. No G-shock will show the time on the watch face as well and clearly in all lighting conditions than a smartwatch. The body is huge and the screen is small - cheesy.

That color way sure is fun & that's the hole point isn't itl. Definitely eye-catching.

I certainly thought this color would be more interesting than the “standard” version of the watch.

I love the colour & I love the shape of 9500, but that is all… I really don’t think it’s a big enough step up from the 9400, which is a better looking watch in my humble opinion. The 9400, although is a Rangeman… does have Mudman buttons & is in fact mud resist. In the same way the 9500 is in fact a Rangeman. Given the size & shape of the display, it’s disappointing that the seconds are below the hour & minutes and the stopwatch is only 1/10 sec… not to mention the countdown timer only being adjustable to a minute. I really wanted to like the 9500, but I’ll be sticking with my 9400, which I love… and instead consider an analogue Mudman like the Gw-1000 or even the 2000. Great review btw and the important thing here is that you’re really pleased with your 9500 😊🫶👊💥

I guess you will not now be buying the new GWGB1000 until the price drops my wife has bought me one for my 70th birthday next march which she has let me have now she said just in case I don’t make you can enjoy it now after the software update from casino because of the automatic timekeeping was not working overnight but now all the functions are working correctly on the watch.The are a couple of things I don’t like the metal keeper for the strap, keeps sliding up and down and gained a few scratches along with the buckle also a don’t like having to pull the crown out to adjust the settings and I would like it if the hands would stay out of the way of the LCD screen when making adjustments. Otherwise the watch is great.it’s The red version I have because I have a lot of black g shocks I wanted something different😊

What you said about not paying top dollar for a G shock is definitely the case with this model with the dim display. If they improved it by having the compass operating differently on the display so you don't need that double layer, then i would gladly pay the cost. The negative displays specially is a complete scam so im sure they will fix it by the next wave of this model. Patience and we will get the product we deserve. In terms of design, i love the more modern simplistic display, like a smartwatch. G shocks usually have a busy display with much nonsense.

Carbon Core guard only in the housing of the case...not in the band.😉

What makes the Casio altimeter/barometer inferior to the Suunto is the lack of a lock feature. At a known altitude, the altimeter can be locked to show only barometric changes. And the opposite is true - at a known barometric value, changes in altitude will only reflect true altitude changes. It also has the "best guess" function like a Casio, which is OK for traveling.

I have to admit that I haven't used the barometer/altimeter functions much on the watches I already have with those features. I will have to make a better effort to see how well this serves me going forward. Looks like I'll have to take up serious hiking.

I've actually never felt legibility was a problem, except some of those negative LCD G-Shocks are more difficult to read at first glance.

I kinda like the fact that this will be a "sleeper" when I wear it. (I'm not sure anyone uses the term "sleeper" anymore. That was what we'd call a car that looked really plain but could out-perform all of the sports cars on the road.)

Casio's simplified almost blank watch face since the protrek 2500 sucks and this like the h1000 seem to be a horrible hybrid of a protrek and a gshock which are always fugly like basketball shoes
