Casio needs to implement that beautiful light that SKMEI provides. I have used SKMEI for more than 1.5 years and the only problem was its build quality. Even G-shock has some serious light issues that should not be there for the price tag of $100.

Skmei is better surely? Unless you need 5 alarms and world time zones... I'd rather save 50% and have the much better EL backlight!! Plus the day readout is much larger also :)

if only casio has the same luminous light with skmei.

Very nice review with comparison.. Casio is clear winner.. But i have skmei from last six plus months.. It was flawless performing..

@@Revolver1981 LOL, casio does the same thing. Casio made this AE-1200WH Royale from the inspiration of James Bond watch(by Seiko). There are couple of watches from the enticer series that looks like rolex models. So No, they would not sue anyone. Fun fact: Even Seiko takes inspiration of its designs from swiss brands.

@@myke.p The Casio 1200whd looks nothing like the Seiko Watch you idiot. Stupid idiots who compared the two Watches came up with the nickname Casio Royale. Why don't you actually look at a picture of they two Watches? They look nothing like one another. The Casio 1200whd has a map on the screen, the Seiko doesn't. The only thing the two Watches have in common is an analogue clock on the left hand side of the screen. Casio were not thinking about the James Bond Watch when the designed the 1200whd. The public came up with the silly nickname Casio Royale. The Watches look nothing like each other.

Nice comparison, I hope there's more to come.

Pro tip: if you live in a hot climate, get the steel band - it will be cooler on your wrist and not sweat. If you live in a cold climate, get the plastic band - it won't feel cold on your wrist when you put it on. If you live in a middle climate, get the steel band - more durable and more fun, and it only takes a minute for the band to warm up to your skin temp. I have the AE-1200 in silver metal, but bought the 1382 in black metal just for a fun toy. Really though, the best go to watch is one that is atomic radio synced and solar. It's too bad neither of these are either. With an atomic/solar, you know it's always right and never dead, you never have to replace batteries on it, and you can turn on all the features and use them without care because it solar recharges. On battery watches, you tend to leave everything off like alarms, stopwatch, etc to stretch out battery life as much as possible. I prefer an atomic/solar over my smart watch any day of the week - you never have to fucking recharge it, ever, and it's hassle free.

i use mine as a daily driver and also to wake me up. Thanks to the 5 alarms you can set backup alarms, just in case you didn't wake up when you should. lol But yeah, if THIS model ever gets at least a solar version (no solar charging but solar support), i'd buy it in a heartbeat. Preferably with metal bracelet.

@@KRAFTWERK2K6 Casio is known for reducing the quality between solar vs. regular battery watches. The 5 alarms are loud because it has no filler in the case. I own 5 Casio G-Shock with solar. The extra protection reduces the alarm sound.

Or get the plastic one, a leather strap, or nylon NATO strap and adjust it in hot or cold weather. Or just rotate watches. They are $20 each. I've been wearing my gold bronze Casio World Time for over a week and I am really enjoy it more than 90% of any watch I ever owned in 30 years. 10% for sentimental watches and luxury ones.

@@user-pi6vz5hr3c Yeah at this price it's smarter to have different models for each purpose. It's not like these watches cost you 100+ bucks where you only have to rely on just one. That's the fun about these cheap digital quarz watches. You can get so many different styles, there's something for every flavor and every opportunity. I often switch between models when ever i feel like it because watches, as useful as they are (especially with different features) they can also count as fashion.

@@user-pi6vz5hr3c wow, does it? I wasn't aware of it but it makes sense. The little piezo buzzer can only be this loud if there's no protective shielding around it. Never had a G-Shock because almost all of the models are a little too chunky for my arm but going by your experience it's not really useful for daily alarms. Too bad :(

Buy Casio. For a few more bucks you get 10 atm, 10 year battery (i.e you don't need to open the watch) much better quality, 5 alarms, 49 cities time, a nice map, analogue watch. I have that version with green map and goldish display.

The multiplex to drive the what 120 segments of the top left panel individually must be quite something on Casio. This module on original Casio can't be cheap. I wish actually this just one section was a full size watch! Skmei just reused what IC they had at hand... but the case do be looking nice. I heard some people get Skmei to plant Casio innards into the case.

Random question. I've scratched the case on my ae1200 up a fair bit and was just going to get another, but the price here is now £40 (~$50) where the SKMEI is only £10. Would the *case* from the SKMEI fit the module and faceplate of the ae1200?

@@GedmisLaguna can confirm that AE1200 internals including faceplate DO fit inside an SKMEI 1335 - it's a bit of a squeeze but they 100% fit. The SKMEI internals won't fit in the Casio though.

​@@-DoN555 YES - fits without any modification. I've got 10 AE1200s now after buying some damaged ones to do this exact mod to. It's a little bit of a squeeze but it does fit inside the SKMEI case and works 100%.

Yeah sometimes i just dont understand why create a cheap homage watch while the 'real one' is actually cheap aswell?? Probably because of the colour selection and sensation???? But back then almost buy myself a skmei before i realised the real thing.. love my Casio AE1200WH till now and not regret at all..

There's more SKMEI with same model, SKMEI 1382. itbhas pedometer and compass, the circle display as compass.

Casio wins with 100m water resistant. These watch debates always end with that.

The difference in price is ridiculous: why should I consider to buy the fake ones?

Skmei 1335 is best.

The analog LCD dial and orange LED light basically makes the Casio original the clear superior winner here. If Casio would sell the different colour variations EVERYWHERE, people wouldn't have to get the chinese knock offs. But hey, you can buy both and use the cases of the SKMEI ones.

@@GedmisLaguna some watches use more power. the more power it uses from a battery, the more blacker the LCD segment it gets, during the childhood, if I set lcd segment to total black, it's not visible, but when set to lightest, it is having more viewing angle. if all watches have the segment black option, then you can make custom viewing angle.
