Oxygen is generally free. In a spaceship, that might be a neat trick.

Always think about the cashing out part from the beginning. For instance, buy gift cards for actual gifts you know people will like (i.e. a relative's favorite store). Similarly, for minimum spend, only get gift cards you know you will liquidate soon for needs like grocery stores, gas stations, favorite restaurants, etc. Don't get silly buying gift cards for places you aspire to shop at someday.

Thank you for mentioning office expenses...I really don't shop on Amazon but I was given $150 that I rather use at another online store...Amazon has the item its $50 more and they dont price match and they dont allow you to buy a visa/mastercard/amex gift card....so I will purchase my office supplies I need to work from home and let my company reimburse me and I can purchase what I want elsewhere...it might take two-three company checks but. i refuse to pay more than I have to!

visas aren't really gift cards. "buy stuff you would have anyway" that isn't really a tip. the problem is having giftcards at places you don't shop. like a bait and tackle shop. if you are a fisherman, sure that is great. but if you aren't, you are sitting on value which is basically same as trash. the best i've found is redeem a gift card for a product, then return the product. this gives you store credit. then buy a store product, then return it. it is a hassle and takes upwards of a week, but some places will allow you to get cash out from this. it is basicly them paying you to not have to see you again.

Just a few extra hacks to add. :D 1. Regift the gift cards. If there is an odd amount, add the difference to the balance to make it a nice round number and then regift. 2. Buy discounted gift cards to buy things your employer will reimburse. Make some extra money. 3. Trade gift cards with a friend.

I bought a few boxes of Magic The Gathering booster packs back in the day for around $100-120 and sat on them. A few dropped to $75-80 but the majority either maintained their price or went up to $300-500. Had I been doing that earlier in my life I could've struck some gold mines as some boxes are worth tens of thousands of dollars and more. Just gotta know what's good.

Thats basically what I use my giftcards on with stores I never go to. Just blow it online and have them sent to me. Well, if it’s store’s that have that type of stuff in their stores. I mean, it may sound stupid, which I guess it kind of is, but the card would just be rotting in a drawer somewhere or taking up space in my pocket otherwise. Edit: especially when it’s under a certain amount required for resell

Great info.I use my debit cards wherever they don't accept a credit card or charge a fee for using a credit card. Small businesses. Estate sales, utilities. That way I don't waste the cash back on my credit card.

You used to be able to sell gift cards for more than they're worth on eBay. I've seen it. Might not be that way anymore

@@BeatTheBush yeah there is a couple reputable online that i found, and an actual kiosk and cashier at Target near me that will do. .but i might just use the gift card for full value to furnish a new apartment i moving. and for groceries instead. cant go wrong if you use a gift card. and save the money "would have spent" with cash.
