Case 148: The Miyazawa Family

Ойын-сауық

DESCRIPTION
On the morning of Sunday, December 31 2001, Haruko tried to phone her daughter, as she did most mornings, but the call wouldn’t go through. By 10:00 am, Haruko still hadn’t seen or heard from Yasuko or the rest of the family and she began to worry...

When the story starts out as a normal family having their ups and downs, a moment of hopefulness after a setback, it really makes it hard to continue listening to it knowing well what it was leading up to. And then, we always have a voice inside that repeats "Don't! Don't!" even when we know what's coming. But you keep going because you need to know if they ever got justice. Sometimes they get it but more often than not many remain unsolved. I don't know if i make any sense but just saying.

With the specific blood grouping (East Asian (Male and the haplogrouping O-M122) and South European (Female), I'd have thought the killer should stand out like a sore thumb in Japan? Couldn't be that many people with that type of grouping there. The blood, faecal material, bite marks, EAFB sand etc, should've had this crime solved in about a week. All I can say is that someone is hiding something and they darn well covered it up good.

The maternal DNA European link could either be his mother, or someone in her lineage from 500 years ago, based on the level of testing. Current testing and genetic genealogy could lead to a more definitive result.

The killer likely just came to Japan, did this, and leave for good. He wouldnt have left that much evidence otherwise, its like an F U for the police.

@Ilkka Rautio That's a very small grammar mistake compared to the way people write now. It's sad, but very few people use the right punctuation or grammer these days. At least you know your grammar.

There isnt such concept as justice, it would require that the legal system would make an estimate about the value of human life and suffering, which is just absurd. There is only an attempt at revenge.

The phone line in the family's house was unplugged. Once, when I lived in Kern County California, a neighbor was being assaulted by her ex-husband who unplugged the phone line while I was calling the police for the emergency. Disabling the phone line during a call to police is a felony in California. So it was also criminal activity for this case too.

Wondering if there is a chance that the killer could be caught in a similar manner as EAR/ONS as genealogy website spread worldwide. Also, what about international travel/driver license/passports? Those require thumb prints when traveling through customs or when applying for those official docs. Can that information ever be cross referenced with the prints left by the killer?

I can add one fact: the killer was a moviegoer. He kind of quoted Lee Van Cleef in Once Upon A Time in America, in action (killing an almost complete family he was supposed to scare) at least. "People scare more easily when they're dead" he explained to his boss. The killer must have thought that funny. Later he sat on the toilet in his victims' house in an attempt to outbid John Travolta in Pulp Fiction. He must've felt great. Asshole.

The other blood in the house was type A, and I heard it was determined that the perpetrator is of asian decent by his paternal father and has a caucasian mother. I'm wondering how this heritage was ascertained because my sister is type A and she is caucasian, not asian, at least not asian looking. So this type A blood doesn't really help to say what the perpetrator looks were. The perp could look as white as my sister.
