CASCADE MOUNTAIN Hike, Banff National Park, (4K)

Спорт

Having done this hike 9 years ago and not having good footage of it, I decided to head back with cousin Kathleen to tackle it again and get some video. This mountain is a beast. It's not necessarily hard as far as exposure or scrambling since there is not much of either, however at a distance of about 19 kms and nearly 1500m elevation gain it takes time to tackle. Parks Canada website gives it an average of 9 hours to complete.
This mountain has great views in all directions of Lake Minnewanka, Vermillion lakes, Sulfur mountain, Mount Rundle, Banff townsite and many more including the Ski Slopes of Mt. Norquay. I really enjoyed coming back here and there were lots of people on the trail. Hopefully, you enjoy the footage as much as I enjoyed taking it. Thanks for watching!
Disclaimer - Always scramble within your own abilities. Thoroughly assess the situation and research the route. Just because I may have done this route at this time doesn't mean you can or should. GPS and/or a topo map are a valuable tool to help. Leave a route description behind with exact location should you not arrive home at a predetermined time. Have a way to contact rescue as well if you are in an area of no cell service(SPOT, Garmin, etc.). Also, if hiking in winter make sure you have the necessary skill and knowledge regarding unstable conditions and perform a proper risk assessment prior to engaging in this activity.

Thanks, Harlan. Been meaning to get up that one for a few years, and it's nice to finally see a good video of those two traverses.

... They are not bad at all, although I know it's relative to each person. It had been 9 years since I was up there. I really enjoyed it again. Cheers and Thanks for watching!

I feel like getting through all the obstacles would be easy but tiring and a bit dangerous if you get what I mean.

Being dangerous is on a bit of a sliding scale, and everyone has a different tolerance level to exposure and terrain. I actually found this to be quite enjoyable, albeit a little long. Cheers!

Did you guys climb this on the 2nd week of September? I was climbing Rundle mountain on the 11th and the smoke conditions look the exact same to me. Cool view. GREAT video. Thank you for pointing out route points!!!!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

We were the week before on September 2nd I Think. Thanks! Not too much smoke but enough to ruin an otherwise great pic! Cheers!

... We were making lots of noise up to the Amphitheatre because I know many like yourself have experienced the same thing.
