Summit Mount Jimmy Simpson: Your Step By Step Hiking Guide

Mount Jimmy Simpson is a peak nestled in Banff National Park along the iconic Icefields Parkway that was first ascended in 1897 by George Baker. The peak was named posthumously in 1974 in honor of Jimmy Simpson (1877-1972) who was a well respected guide in the early days of mountain exploration in the Canadian Rockies.

    Much appreciated Harlan! I just watched your video and yes, you were too high up but good on you both for persevering to the the summit. It can be confusing up there..we were consulting our Gaia GPS route constantly and got lucky that we choose the correct ledge! I think with the increased traffic up there due to the interest in J.S., the trail is better defined than when you did it 7 years ago. Ah well, a little off road adventuring is fun...as long as it's safe! Thanks again for your feedback Harlan! 👍

    This footage was from last year...July 22, 2023. Not sure what the conditions are like currently...I'm assuming more snow in the gully this year as it hasn't been very warm this Spring.
